It was just last year that Wazdan revealed it had entered New Jersey, a milestone event, as it was the first US market the firm had earned the appropriate licensing. However, a year on from that momentous moment, the company’s COO, Michal Imiolek, has reflected on Wazdan’s continued expansion in some of iGaming’s fastest-growing markets.

After securing partnerships with several operators in New Jersey, Wazdan turned its attention to some of the other growing US markets. Throughout the year, the company secured licensing for Michigan and West Virginia to go on top of its operations in New Jersey.

In the interview, Imiolek states that alongside gaining entry into those markets and Ontario in Canada, Wazdan will shortly earn similar access to the Pennsylvania and Connecticut iGaming markets. The firm understands that producing high-quality slots is just one side of the development coin and that without continued market growth, the former is worthless.

Among the questions Imiolek faced during the interview included how he feels Wazdan has performed in the US states during the first year. Plus, he talks about what Wazdan expects from these markets in the future and what factors appeal to US-based casino players.

If you are a fan of Wazdan, you will want to check back with us tomorrow as we have a review of the firm’s latest slot coming up. Called 9 Coins™ 1000 Edition, this slot is a super-charged sequel to 9 Coins™.

Wazdan Surprised at Level of First Year US Success

When asked to describe how the first year went for Wazdan in the US markets, Imiolek claimed the firm was taken aback at the level of success it has enjoyed. The company knew that the US markets presented a lot of opportunity but did not expect US players to uptake its games so fiercely and quickly.

He mentioned that a crossover of cultures between Europe and America is probably a big reason for this. From the interview, it is clear that Wazdan will continue what it is doing regarding the creation of new and innovative casino content while keeping an eye on how trends in the sector change.

The US Player Base is Mobile Orientated

One interesting fact that we gleaned from this recent interview is that according to a report mentioned by Imiolek, over 95% of US players visit online casinos using mobile devices. While that is not a huge surprise, it does suggest that the functionality of new casino games is just as important as entertainment. Players prefer to pick up easy-to-play games with simple but lucrative bonus features.

When quizzed on how he feels Wazdan will perform in the US markets going forward, Imiolek did suggest that they present different challenges to most others. Different regulations in each state bring high regulatory costs to suppliers. That said, he admitted that the gains far outweigh those costs.

Customer Retention the Biggest Hurdle for US Operators

The final question aimed at Wazdan’s COO was centred on the operators in the US and how they should maximise customer retention. He believes that many US markets are at the point where player acquisition should remain the priority. According to Imiolek, player retention should now be the focus.

To achieve this, he believes that operators should concentrate on the entertainment value their platforms offer alongside standard key selling points such as fast payouts and a high standard of customer service. Imiolek also stated that US players love jackpot slots and that operators should appease fans by implanting the best of them. Of course, Wazdan has enjoyed success with its Hold the Jackpot range of titles in the US as well as other major iGaming markets around the globe, so he is well placed to make that observation.
