Playtech Head of Regulatory Affairs Takes a Seat on CGA Board of Directors
Founded in 2005, the Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) is an iGaming lobby group for the gambling industry in Canada. Its members include some of the largest gaming operators in the world, including but not limited to casinos, lotteries, and payment companies as well as other ancillary industries.
It has so far become extremely popular and most of the country’s provinces and territories are showing interest.
On 7 December, the Canadian Gaming Association held its Annual General Meeting in Vancouver. During the meeting, it decided to extend its board members with six new members joining the board of directors (BOD).
One of those members includes Charmaine Hogan who is Playtech’s head of regulatory affairs. The software provider currently operates across Canada through MGA and Curacao casinos, while also holding an Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). You can find out more about the Playtech software provider here.
Other appointments include Mark Harper, general manager at NS Sports, Niaz Nejad, senior vice president and head of marketing at Aristocrat Gaming, and Dale Hooper, general manager of FanDuel Canada. Bruce Caughill, managing director of Rush Street Interactive in Canada, is also on the board. Plus, Niaz Nejad, senior vice-president and head of marketing at Aristocrat gaming and Scott Vanderwel the CEO of PointsBet Canada.
A mix of foreign influences: The idea of also adding non-Canadians to the board is to bring experience from other iGaming jurisdictions to the table. For example, Playtech’s Charmaine Hogan has experience with European gambling regulators.
