In a momentous iGaming deal bringing a Greentube IGT patent agreement to the table could mean you will soon see IGT games at casinos featuring Greentube and vice versa. Not only this, it could also mean IGT are available at iSoftBet casinos – read on to find out why.

Unlike the likes of Pragmatic Play, Wazdan, Endorphina and other top software providers featuring at MGA, UKGC and Curacao online casinos, Greentube and IGT are not as widespread. I couldn’t tell you why exactly, but after reviewing hundreds of online casinos and writing news about both brands, they are often not on the ‘Providers’ list of most virtual casino establishments.

However, after a newly announced Greentube and IGT cross-licensing patent agreement, that could all be about to change. The deal specifically mentioned the use of Remote Access Servers, which I would be correct in saying this means access to the recently announced and brand-new Greentube Mynt remote server announced in the recent iGaming Tech News report.

Now just to give you an idea of how big this deal is, IGT also owns iSoftBet, which has its own ‘Game Aggregation Platform’ already giving IGT access to over 8,000 third-party titles. Add Greentube into the mix and operators only need to have an iGaming supply partnership agreement in place with just one of the three brands to gain access to all three of the software provider’s game portfolios.

An explosion of top titles on the horizon: Now Greenttube games can flow through IGT and iSoftBet’s online casino game delivery systems, while the IGT and iSoftBet games can flow through the Greentube Mynt system.

Is the Greentube European Acquisition Paying Off Already?

Greentube recently acquired majority shareholdings in Alteatec IT Solutions Limited – a European (Slovakian to be precise) iGaming solutions provider. Within that deal were some intriguing details regarding Alteatec’s Olympus One system and it could just be the reason behind the recent with International Game Technology PLC (“IGT”) (NYSE: IGT).

Ok, so the recent news published on the IGT website is an IGT and Greentube patented cross-licensing agreement for the ‘Remote Game Server’. The question is, has the acquisition of Alteatec IT Solutions Limited giving Greentube untapped access to the Olympus One system influenced the IGT agreement?

What I can tell you is that the brand-new Greentube Mynt remote gaming system almost certainly played a major role in this deal. The proof of this speculative comment is available in the title of the announcement made by IGT. “IGT and Greentube Sign Patent Cross-Licensing Agreement for Remote Game Server”. The Remote Game Server (RGS) part of the title is a dead giveaway.

So why am I banging on about the Greentube Alteatec Acquisition? Well, IGT is also a land-based video slot and casino games machine supplier. And one of the focal points of the Alteatec shares takeover bid was Greentube having access to Alteatec Olympus One’s land-based arcade gambling integration system. What’s more, another dead giveaway is that the IGT and Greentube RGS patent cross-licensing deal came just one day after announcing its new European venture.

An Opportunity for IGT to Harness Greentube State-of-the Art Land-Based Tech

For IGT, there is an opportunity to take advantage of this deal by gaining patent access to both the Olympus One system’s planned integration with the Novo Unity, which comes through Greentube (the Digital Gaming and Entertainment division of Novomatic).

The Greentube IGT Patent Agreement mentions that the deal involves remote game server (RGS) technologies for networked games. It allows IGT to combine its video slot portfolio with Greentube’s. That’s an amazing set of titles combined by the way! We are talking about Book of Ra slots becoming available at online casinos that host the IGT software provider but do not host Greentube.

On top of this, IGT’s CEO of Global Gaming (Renato Ascoli) said: “We look forward to providing the entire gaming industry with the opportunity to license the combined RGS portfolios of IGT and Greentube which cover compelling technologies for delivering games to customers wherever they play.”

That means access to the newly acquired Olympus One system and its land based as well as online management system capabilities could become available to IGT via the deal. Novomatic is likely going to use the system, and Greentube looks to have plans to use its brand name to connect to Novomatic land-based games.

Could this also mean IGT connects to Novomatic and Greentube games both online and offline and vice versa?

Only time will tell how deep this deal goes. It is an exciting prospect to keep in mind as this is a partnership between giants in not just iGaming but gambling as a whole in retail, land-based casinos and online casinos.
