Have you had enough of turkey and sprouts yet, or are you still working through the Christmas day leftovers?
Either way, we really hope you had a great couple of days! The festive season is not over yet, though, as we still have the New Year to look forward to!
With many of you having more time off work for the festive season, there’s little doubt some of you will have spent a bit more time than usual gambling online.
That’s understandable if playing casino games or betting on sports is a hobby.
However, the team at Casinoplusbonus does ask that you gamble responsibly, even more so at this time of year.
One of the reasons this topic came across our iGaming news desk is due to a recent survey by GamCare that has revealed that those adults who already struggle with gambling addiction are more likely to gamble at this time of year than any other.
Just in case you are looking for ideas, we are here today to give you a few tips on how to avoid the temptations of over-gambling during the festive period. For example, stick to a bankroll management strategy and devise a budget that you can use in tandem with responsible gambling tools.
Check to see if your online casino offers the options to set deposit and loss limits to avoid over gambling. If it does, then you can read more about setting responsible gambling limits here.
GamCare Survey Reveals Steep Rise in Gambling-Related Issues Over the Festive Period
To highlight the struggles those with gambling problems face over the festive season, GamCare has recently commissioned a YouGov survey. The independent UK charity, which raises awareness of gambling harms, surveyed 4,000 UK adults, and the results are concerning.
More than three-fifths of those surveyed who admit to experiencing gambling problems have admitted they’re more likely to gamble at this time of year than at any other time. Worryingly, that is a big increase from 37% that said the same thing last year.
As you’ll see in the accompanying table, that’s just one of several statistics that are a cause of concern.
As the GamCare Article on Gambling Issues This Christmas highlights, it is more than just more spare time over the Xmas period that can contribute to increased gambling. Many people receive an earlier payday in December to accommodate Christmas.
On top of that, the increased financial pressures of the festive season, coupled with the influence of alcohol and a busy sporting schedule, also play their part.

Although the highlight box in the introduction and the list above highlight responsible gambling tools, the reality is not all online casinos offer this luxury. That’s not an issue as long as you can stay in control and use a bankroll management strategy to help you gamble within your limits.
