NOVOMATIC Africa is looking to improve services, support systems and product placement in the African markets by restructuring its management personnel. Starting June 1st 2021, the roles of Managing Director NOVOMATIC Africa will be resumed by Muriel Loftie-Eaton, Sonya Nikolova, and also Alexander Merwald. Nikolova is leading sales while also has the responsibility of CEO and also in Africa. Loftie-Eaton is standing in as CFO, while the CIO is Alexander Merwald, and will also be in charge of the NOVOMATIC Group Mergers and Acquisitions. All this was made official on the Novomatic website in a recent press release and will help the firm focus its efforts on growing countries like South Africa.
NOVOMATIC AG welcomed Sonya Nikolova back in 2016. She took up a senior post on the Global Sales team. She came to the company with experience in Industrial Engineering and Management. On top of this, she has a wealth of experience in senior executive roles within the iGaming and sports industry. Her knowledge and experience will be an asset to management and operations at NOVOMATIC AG and this will shine through to the benefit of the customers.
Sonya Nikolova, CEO NOVOMATIC Africa, has signalled her intent for the company and given us an idea of the approach that she intends to take. She understands that with her role comes great responsibility for all involved with the company.

Muriel Loftie-Eaton Experienced & Qualified For the Role!
Muriel Loftie-Eaton has worked with NOVOMATIC since 2017 and comes with a chartered accountant qualification. Initially, Muriel was a business consultant as well as a partner before eventually become part of the board of Directors in 2020. She has extensive knowledge of the industry as she was previously working for close to 10 years with HCI, the parent company of Tsogo Group.
Of the 3, NOVOMATIC AG’s longest-serving member is Alexander Merwald – he has been involved since 2012. Back then, he headed for the firm’s M&A department. Merwald achieved a degree in Finance and before linking up with NOVOMATIC, he was a financial advisor in the corporate sector. There is no doubt about the value that Alexander Merwald offers the business with a particular focus on the expansion of the Groups operational gaming segment across the region.
Gary Chapple and Gordon Cameron will move on and NOVOMATIC would like it to be said that they are very grateful for the contribution from both of these professionals. The former executives have been nothing short of excellent during their time with the company.
