The 8th of March is one of the most important days of the year as it reminds us of the amazing cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women all around the world. For the iGaming industry, in particular, International Women’s Dayis about promoting equality in an industry, like many others, was previously male-dominated.

To mark this special occasion, many iGaming development companies, including Betsoft, Pragmatic Play, Tom Horn Gaming, Play’n GO, NoLimit City, and Lady Luck Games, have taken to social media to celebrate the women working within their companies and throughout the iGaming industry. We are sure more firms will follow suit with further posts of support – it is still early in many parts of the world after all.

Tom Horn Gaming posted a tweet that states the firm’s love of its strong, inspiring, and fierce women working within its company while also stating its support for a gender-equal world. Lady Luck Games, Play’n GO, and NoLimit City posted similar messages but used images containing the female characters from many of their most popular video slots. Betsoft also posted a tweet in support of women’s achievements around the world and its hope that the tech industry continues to push towards equality.

WiG Awards: The Women in Gaming Awards has also used International Women’s Day as the perfect occasion to remind the industry to nominate its women colleagues for the awards to be hosted on the 10th of May this year. We reported on the 11th Edition of the WiG Awards last year and will do the same when the awards for 2022 are revealed.

Pragmatic Play Donates €10,000 to SOAR Charity to Mark International Women’s Day

Going one step further than most, Pragmatic Play has marked the occasion by donating €10,000 to a Malta-based women’s charity. Survivors of Abuse with Resilience (SOAR) are a charity that supports women that have suffered with or continue to suffer abuse in intimate relationships. SOAR claims that 1 in 3 women in Malta have suffered violent abuse and are working to bring awareness to this fact while also offering support to women as they strive to pick up the pieces after an abusive relationship.

Pragmatic Play has always done its bit for good causes, and this donation is just one of the many the firm has made over the years. Last year the iGaming giant donated €21,000 to the Philanthropic Foundation, while more recently on Christmas Eve, Pragmatic Play made a €28,000 donation to Puttinu Cares, a Malta foundation that supports children suffering from cancer. Back in September, Pragmatic Play also donated a combined total of €40,000 to five causes, including the YMCA (Malta), Homeless Animal Hospital (Romania), and Caipe House (Gibraltar).

Of this latest donation, Julian Jarvis, Pragmatic Play’s CEO released a statement emphasising the importance of Women’s Day and that the firm is proud of SOAR and the donation it was able to provide to help that foundation continue its support of abused women in Malta.

We would just like to add that we also want to celebrate the women and their achievements within the iGaming industry and all other industries around the world. Many industries have made strides towards equality over the years, but there is still a lot more that needs to be done. Today is not just for women but also to remind the men of the important roles that women play in this world.
