EGR Italy 2021 Results – Playtech Takes 2 Awards Off Microgaming While Both Win Multiple Honours

In Italy, Playtech and Microgaming shone in the latest EGR Italy 2021 winning several awards between them showing the iGaming world that these developers are world-renowned. And there’s a little twist to this story because Playtech won both awards won by Microgaming in the 2020 Italian EGR event.

The Italian iGaming market may not be one we focus on, but it has close ties with the countries we do cover. Many of the casino brands, operators, aggregator platforms, and software you see in our online casino reviews also operate in Italy.

Two companies that recently stood out in the Italian iGaming market are Playtech and Microgaming. Both hold the domestic Italian license that allows them to supply their games to online casinos also licensed to operate in Italy. That license is the ADM (Agenzia delle Dogane e Dei Monopoli) and you can read more about it on the ‘Microgaming Regulated Markets’ page.

Playtech Double Win: Rather unsurprisingly Playtech won the EGR Italy 2021 ‘Casino Platform Supplier’ of the year. This will add to the company’s well deserved ‘Aggregator Platform’ of the year award at the EGR B2B 2021; an award Playtech also won in 2019. Playtech also took home the EGR Italy 2021 ‘Software Supplier’ of the year award; an honour Microgaming picked up in the EGR Italy 2020 awards event.

Microgaming: In the Microgaming corner, the team were there to pick up the EGR Italy 2021 ‘Mobile Supplier’ of the year award. In the 2020 event, Microgaming won the ‘Casino Platform Supplier’ and the ‘Software Supplier’ of the year awards, but this year Microgaming had to step aside as Playtech picked up both the awards it won last time around.

What is the ADM License? It allows online casinos and software developers to operate in Italy. It just so happens Playtech and Microgaming hold this license to accompany their UKGC license to serve the UK market and MGA licenses to cover online casinos in Ireland, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada.

EGR Italy 2021 Awards – Other Notable Award Winners

While we were looking into the award winners in the EGR Italy 2021 event, we also noticed a few other brand names we see often in our usual target markets. PayPal, the popular UK casino eWallet, and Evolution – the most well-known live dealer platform.

PayPal: In Italy, PayPal is a big deal and for the third year running, the eWallet won the ‘Payments and Fraud Company’ of the year award.

Evolution: Evolution saw off competition from the likes of Playtech, Yggdrasil, Microgaming and more to win the EGR Italy 2021 ‘Casino Content Supplier’ of the year award.
