The EGR 2021 Day 1 results are already out after a day that went perfectly at the event held at the York Lawns in Regents Park, which is in the UK capital, London. After last year’s 100% virtual awards, this year the event took a 50/50 approach with a mixed virtual and in-person show to announce iGaming and sports betting winning brands for 2021!
We already knew which brands were on the shortlist from the EGR 2021 shortlist announcement which shows 39 awards categories! Day 1 settled 18 awards over the course of the event with some notable brands battling it out over a 3-part afternoon with groups 1, 2, and 3 now settled!
The lion’s share of the awards largely focused on sports betting with honours such as ‘In-play Betting Software’ and ‘Sports Betting Supplier’ of the year awards going to Kambi, and NeoGames was honoured with the ‘Live Streaming Supplier’ award. BetConstruct picked up the ‘Skill Games Supplier’ award, EveryMatrix won the Sports Data Supplier of the year trophy, and Kiron Interactive took down the ‘Virtual Sports Supplier’ award!
The latter part of the day was taken up by corporate services awards that recognise infrastructure contributions. ‘Corporate Services Supplier’ (Gutsy Ninja), ‘IT Supplier’ (Sigma Software Group), ‘Data and AI partner’ (Vaix.ai), ‘Mobile Services Supplier’ (Mkodo), and ‘Recruiter’ (Pentasia) of the year awards!
For the iGaming sector, the most interesting section was Groupe 1 which began with a small selection of iGaming awards such as ‘Bingo Supplier’, ‘Innovation in Slot Provision’, and ‘Innovation in RNG Casino Software’ plus we saw the Esports Betting Supplier of the year award given to Unikrn!
NetEnt & Red Tiger (joint entry) Win Innovation in Slot Provision Award!
One of the most competitive awards to take down at the EGR B2B awards is the ‘Innovation in Slot Provision’. And the award went to both NetEnt and Red Tiger as both brands put themselves down as a join entry.
They won with what was described as a fantastic and diverse collection of new game releases over the year. Red Tiger and NetEnt casinos offer players a mix of games including Gonzo’s Quest via NetEnt and Gonzo’s Quest Megaways video slot via Red Tiger. Both these slots are in the top 20 most played slot titles globally. Also, NetEnt released Piggy Riches the original and Red Tiger has released the Piggy Riches Megaways version. At the end of 2020, NetEnt and Red Tiger came under new ownership after Evolution purchased the NetEnt brand which Red Tiger also falls under. Since the acquisition Evolution has re-released the successful Gonzo slot theme as a live dealer game show title and created a VR Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt!
NetEnt and Red Tiger are still in the running for ‘Mobile Supplier’, ‘Mobile Gaming Software Supplier’, ‘Slot Supplier’ and ‘Casino Software Supplier’ of the year awards. However, in these categories they are not a ‘join entry’ and will be competing! Last year Red Tiger took down the first 3 mentioned awards ahead of NetEnt!
Evolution Wins Innovation in RNG Casino Software Award
An exceptionally good day for Evolution seeing as the brand also owns NetEnt and Red Tiger so this award is technically Evolution’s second of the day! Known for its live dealer games, Evolution has branched out into the RNG iGaming zone – most notably with its First Person table games. This catalogue of RNG operated casino games replicates the live dealer environment using 3D rendering which offers players a more realistic looking virtual table gaming experience!
Evolution picked up the award with special mention of its First Person Craps and Football Studio titles, while the collection also includes virtual Mega Ball, Roulette, American Roulette, Blackjack, Lightning Roulette, Dream Catcher, Baccarat, and Dragon Tiger!
Live casino supplier: This evening Evolution will battle it out for the EGR 2021 ‘Live Casino Supplier’ of the year award which it has won for the last 12 consecutive years!
MuchBetter Wins Innovation in Payments Solutions For the 2nd Year!
One of the online casino industry’s rising stars in the payment solution category has taken down the EGR 2021 award! It hardly comes as a surprise as the Muchbetter payment solution has a heavy focus on becoming one of the number one payment options in the iGaming and sports betting industry. Its eWallet is especially designed for fast, secure, and seamless payment transactions and is now accepted by nearly all major online casino operators!
This is the second year running MuchBetter picked up this award with EGR B2B judges praising its innovative approach and its understands of the iGaming space by providing a highly secure payment platform, reasonable charges, steadfastness and excellent fraud protection!
Unikrn Wins Esports Betting Supplier of the Year!
Unikrn pries this award away from last year’s winner UltraPlay which was also shortlisted this time around. It’s a huge award for the firm that has been rated as the best in class product thanks to it continued innovative development within the eSport betting industry!
Today: There are quite a few interesting categories that will be settled today. Many of them we mentioned above for Red Tiger, NetEnt, and Evolution! We will review them all tomorrow! The ‘Full Service Platform’ of the year award is an interesting one with Playtech, Pragmatic Solutions, and SkillOnNet all involved, ‘Best Customer Service’, ‘Poker supplier’ and ‘Software Rising Star’ awards also being settled later this evening!
