Some of the most talked-about news to come out of the iGaming arena recently is International Game Technology PLC (IGT) and the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announcing a historic deal that will give licensing rights on multi-year terms. The deal will see IGT, a brand we regularly cover in iGaming due to its video slot titles, release a range of lotto games using the famous WWE brand to drive the product further, as well as end-to-end advertising being part of the deal.

IGT Motivated to Combine Lucrative WWE Assets with its Knowledge of the Lottery Market

Jay Gendron, the chief operating officer at IGT, the company that brought Yggdrasil into the US market, has stated that the company recognises the huge commercial value that the WWE brand holds, and by linking up with the sports entertainment company, IGT will now be looking at getting its lottery product into a new market of clients, which holds different demographics, age groups, and cultures. IGT is now looking at capitalizing on the phenomenal advertising potential it can have through the WWE by using the ‘Superstars’, different events, and the logo. Using its own expertise in the lottery, IGT will be able to create unique lottery games, which can attract a host of new international interests.

International Game Technology is a world leader in lottery products and is constantly looking at ways of growing by offering its intellectual property to an ever-expanding audience. John Brody, vice president of WWE, spoke about the level of excitement this has raised. He described the deal as an ‘exciting opportunity’, and the WWE took this opportunity with both hands as it saw the potential in the crossover between the WWE and this different gaming landscape.

How Will the Partnership Deal Impact Global Entertainment

IGT is highly experienced in the world of entertainment by supplying a wealth of channels through regulated markets. IGT has products in gaming machines, lottery, sports betting, video slots, progressive jackpots, and digital. IGT improved its experience for customers last December, by collaborating with Sightline Payments to add this to an already successful mobile platform.

Responsible gambling is at the forefront of the IGT vision, and any product it offers complies with strict measures to enforce this. The company aims for continuous growth, by adding innovative new products to its portfolio, using the latest technologies. IGT expects the deal with the WWE to create unrivalled player experiences in a host of new games, that will help the company to grow at an even faster rate.

With footprints in more than 100 countries across the world, IGT works closely with market regulators and local governments to create a strong local presence. The company is helped by its 11,000 strong team of industry experts, who are employed to help deliver the very best in entertainment. IGT continues to go from strength to strength, as it announced yet another successful quarter in Q3 of 2021, announcing double-digit percentage growth across the entire business.

World Wrestling Entertainment has an impressive history, with years of growth behind it. Historic pay-per-view events, and the ability to deliver weekly shows with a continued storyline, have made it a household name in many countries over the world. ‘Superstars’ are easily recognised by a range of age groups, as they have played a key role in an individual’s entertainment source. The televised shows broadcast on partner networks in multiple continents, such as BT Sport, Rogers, Fox Sports, Sony India, and NBCUNiversal, reach more than 900 million households in over 180 different countries.
