If you are a William Hill member, the news circulating about its launch in the US state of Nevada is different from what it seems if you are a non-US player.
In the US, the Ceasars Entertainment-operated version of the brand has officially lifted off with a new look and enhanced version of its mobile app. This is available in either an iOS or Android download.
Unfortunately, the new look app is not for players outside of Nevada.
To be clear, William Hill US operates under Ceasars Entertainment (NYSE), which initially purchased the William Hill brand. 888 Holdings purchased all non-US WH assets from the US gambling entertainment firm. Therefore, the deal with Eric Cantona is with the WH European operations, which operate under 888 Holdings (LSE) global operations outside the US. Therefore, the new app has nothing to non-US operations.
Therefore, Caesars Entertainment and 888 Holdings have no connection other than owning their versions of the William Hill brand in the US and outside the US, respectively.
However, as operating online casinos is illegal in Nevada, this new app will not include slots or table games. And although online poker is the only iGaming vertical legally permitted to operate in Nevada, the company has yet to launch a William Hill poker app in the state.
On the flip side, if you are looking to join William Hill or you are a member under the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) or Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) versions operated under 888 Holdings, you have access to iOS and Android apps, desktop access via web browser and a desktop app, plus casino, poker, and sports betting.

888 Holdings could have been looking better financially. Mainly because the company’s acquisition (reverse takeover) of WH non-US operations meant acquiring high street betting stores. Covid lockdowns severely affected the company’s revenue, and due to its massive debt to bring the WH brand under its umbrella of casino entertainment offerings, 888 faced tough times.
However, business through William Hill is looking rosier. A new CEO and a rise of 0.8% in UK gamblers using WH to place bets mean 14.9% (2.98m) of the nation’s 20 million punters use WH stores and online access.
