What Is Casinoplusbonus’s Opinion?
Despite the UK Gambling White Paper rolling out new rules to amend the Gambling Act 2005, British online gambling is still showing tremendous signs of growth. In a country that currently has a poor economy with low GDP growth and is on the verge of a year-on-year shrinking economy, gambling looks to be one of the British Isle’s most reliable growth industries.
Yet, there may be some doom and gloom ahead for the industry, which we have been discussing in the Casinoplusbonus forum – Online Gaming Regulations discussion. In particular, we are looking at affordability checks and maximum bet limits for online slots.
1. Will the affordability check reduce Great Britain’s thriving online gambling GGY?
Let’s not forget affordability checks are coming into full force in February 2025. Players who accumulate deposits of over £500 in 30 days will trigger an internal non-invasive affordability check. However, with these affordability checks in place, will they reduce the number of people able to gamble? There are a lot of rules coming into action in the United Kingdom over the next few months. It will be interesting to see how FY 2025 Q3 compared to FY 2026 compare once new regulations are fully in place.
2. Could the reduction in maximum bets reduce future UK online slot GGY growth?
It is also important to make a note of another Casinoplusbonus forum discussion we are having, which is about the new online slot limits coming to the UK. For the time being, we don’t have the exact date this will happen. Below, the bullet points show the new max bet limits that will come into place. For the time being, they are awaiting parliamentary approval.
- £2 maximum bet where the individual is less than 25 years old.
- £5 maximum bet where the individual is 25 years old or over.
Despite the fact the UK has already banned bonus buy slots and auto-spins and put in rule in place to ensure online slot spins last 2.5 seconds, it is clear that the popularity of online video slot gaming is still on the rise.
