Live casino game shows are all the rage at the minute, and now we have another superb title to enjoy with the release of Playtech’s The Money Drop Live!
Developed in partnership with Endemol Shine, this live game show gives you your win upfront before challenging you to keep hold of as much of it as possible via money drop rounds, or a Cash Clash bonus round!
Playtech, already behind the 2014 launch of the excellent The Money Drop video slot, and now they have developed a live casino version that is sure to attract plenty of admirers! Both the video slot and the new live variation, are inspired by the UK television quiz show called ‘The Million Pound Drop’, a show which gives money to contestants who then try to hold onto it throughout money drop rounds.
When you place your bet and the live host spins the wheel, you will either win a multiplier of between 8x and 2500x, or make your way to the Cash Clash bonus round, which could pay up to 1000x your stake. Furthermore, random drops will sometimes double your multipliers, or give you an additional safe zone during the money drop part of the game.
This new title continues Playtech’s recent push into the live casino space in the iGaming industry. Previously, the leading live dealer specialist Evolution dominated with titles such as Crazy Time, Monopoly Live, Dreamcatcher, Mega Ball, and more recently, Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt. However, Playtech showed their excellence with the release of Adventures Beyond Wonderland, and have now followed up that successful title with the release of The Money Drop Live game show!
The Money Ball Live is currently in beta, and thus, only available at a select number of UK online casinos for the time being. The full roll of out of this excited new title is rumoured to be at the start of July!
The Money Drop Live Gameplay
What we love about this live title, is that with the right strategy, you could walk away with money from every single bet. This is by playing extremely conservatively and covering all bases. On the flip side, should you choose to be more cavalier, you could really win some big payouts when your luck comes in!
When a new round starts, you simply choose which segments of a big wheel to place your bets on. That 54-segment wheel is split into the following segments:
- 8x – 20 segments and comes with 1 drop round
- 15x – 11 segments and comes with 1 drop round
- 30x – 6 segments and comes with 1 drop round
- 100x – 7 segments and comes with 2 drop rounds
- 250x – 3 segments and comes with 2 drop rounds
- 1000x – 3 segments and comes with 3 drop rounds
- 2500x – 1 segments which come with 3 drop rounds
- Card Clash – 3 segments and takes you to a bonus game
Each Segment Offers a Different RTP – Those are the following:
Segment | RTP | Probability |
8x | 96.02% | 37.03% |
15x | 96.25% | 20.37% |
30x | 96.25% | 11.11% |
100x | 96.01% | 12.96% |
250x | 94.01% | 5.55% |
1000x | 94.01% | 5.55% |
2500x | 94.04% | 1.85% |
Card Clash | 96.48% | 5.55% |
You can wager on as many of these as you like, so essentially, covering all will guarantee you take part in either the Money Drops (how many rounds differs on the segment that came in), or the Card Clash bonus game. Once you have placed your bets, the live host will give the wheel a big spin, and let it determine where it finishes up. If you’d bet on the winning segment, you get that multiplier or entry into the Cash Clash bonus round! If the former, you now have to service the Money Drop in an attempt to hold onto as much as your win as possible! As for the latter, you need to hope you win or tie at least once from three hands to win a multiplier.
The Money Drops Rounds
Now that you have your upfront cash win, it is now your job to try and keep hold of it. This is an aspect we like about this excellent live game show. Rather than building up your win, you get it straight away and just have to make sure you don’t lose it! The Money Drop rounds work by having you select which of four platforms to place your cash. You can spread your cash across all four to cover your bases or choose one, two, or three platforms if you wanted to take a risk for more money. Once the timer ends, three of those platforms will drop away, taking any money with them. Any money you had on the remaining platform, stays yours.
When the higher multipliers land on the wheel, you will have to play 2, or even 3 money drop rounds – so, as you can imagine, keeping hold of your full win amount requires quite a bit of luck. That said, with a conservative strategy, you should still walk away with a profit!
The Card Clash Bonus Game
There are just three Card Clash segments on the Money Pit wheel, but if you wagered on the Card Clash segment and it comes in, you go through to a bonus round which pits one half of players against the other half. You simply choose whether you want to be on the Blue side or pink side. The host will then draw a card for each side, with the side with the highest card winning the round. There are three rounds in total and your side needs to win at least one of them to win a multiplier of your stake.
Win once, you will earn a 5x multiplier, twice will give you 15x, and winning all three will reward you 95x. Of course, its possible that your side wins no rounds at all, which results in you losing everything. The best result is all three rounds ending in a tie, as this pays out a whopping 1000x the stake to everybody!
The highest possible win on Playtech’s The Money Drop is 5,000x, but that is dependent on wagering on the 2,500x segments, and a 2x multiplier applying to that segment (decided randomly before the drop rounds). As for the lowest possible win, this is 5x, achievable by winning just a single round in the Card Clash bonus game.
