Welcome back to our latest amalgamation of the latest and biggest news coming out of the South African iGaming market.

Currently hitting the news feeds across the country are stories, including PariPlay’s latest strategic partnership with Bet Network that will ultimately lead to operators in South Africa getting their hands on the aggregator’s portfolio of proprietary and third-party casino games.

Obviously, PariPlay believes now is a good time to strike as the South African gambling industry continues to recover following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other stories in this roundup include the legendary SA cricketer Jonty Rhodes striking a deal with Win Millions Lotto and the South African National Lotteries Commission (NLC) increasing its efforts to combat lottery grants and funding irregularities.

Rhodes Teams Up with Win Millions Lotto for Philanthropic Initiative

Jonty Rhodes, one of South Africa’s greatest living cricket legends, has struck a mutually beneficial collaboration with Win Millions Lotto. The UK-based website has forged similar deals with other illustrious cricketers, including Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, and Dale Steyn, and hopes the addition of Rhodes will encourage more people to use its platform to participate in some of the world’s biggest lotteries.

As part of the arrangement, a portion of all lottery ticket sales will go to the Chhany Foundation, Rhodes’ chosen charity. The foundation supports victims of acid attacks across India. Rhodes will also participate in meet and greets with fans at exclusive raffle events.
Win Millions Lotto is a Curacao-licensed lottery platform that supports over 60 fiat currencies and 11 cryptocurrencies. It allows members from over 100 accepted countries to participate in major lotteries such as the PowerBall and Mega Millions. Members can watch draws live, enjoy special offers and promotions, and play anytime and anywhere as long as they have internet access.

Pariplay® Targets South African Growth with Bet Network

Pariplay®, a prominent iGaming aggregation platform, has South African expansion in its sights once more. This time, the NeoGames S.A subsidiary has formed a collaboration with Bet Network that will allow the company to gain certification for its aggregated and in-house content and provide it to online gambling platforms across the region. Bet Network’s NML (National Manufacturing License) and its vast knowledge of the local South African iGaming market played a significant role in convincing Pariplay® this new partnership will bring the company substantial growth in South Africa.

The aggregator will initially wait for proprietary products from Wizard Games and third-party developers on its platform to gain approval from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. Once certified, Pariplay® will use the local iGaming expertise of Bet Network to establish partnerships with operators within South Africa.

Pariplay® has sought growth in numerous markets in 2023 to date. This Pariplay and Bet Network partnership is the second South African collaboration for the firm in 2023, following a deal struck with the SA operator, SunBet, back in July. South Africa’s National Lotteries Commission (NLC) Intensifies Anti-Fraud Efforts

South Africa’s National Lotteries Commission (NLC) has informed Parliament in South Africa it is ramping up its efforts to combat irregular procurement of lottery funds and grants and also alleged fraud. South Africa’s Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has identified over 200 projects suspected of irregularly procuring over 2 billion ZAR (€100.1 million) from the NLC. According to NLC Chief Audit Executive Vincent Jones, these suspicious projects include 53 discovered during the last financial year and 27 in the current year.

Current NLC Commissioner Jodi Scholtz recently addressed MPs, stating the NLC is currently developing an anti-corruption and fraud framework that should help to protect against these irregularities in the future. This new risk-based model involves inspecting the projects before grant funding is issued. Another step taken to help deter fraudulent schemes is publicly publishing awarded grants with location details included. This is so activists and journalists can investigate and monitor these projects more easily.
