SBC 2022 Global Awards – Rootz, Playtech, Pragmatic Play Winners

The biggest iGaming event in online gambling has come to an end. Last night, the final winners of the SBC 2022 Global Awards held in Barcelona came to light, and there were some surprises along the way.

We announced the SBC 2022 Barcelona awards shortlist back in July this year. Of course, this event pulls in all the big guns, and not only from the iGaming vertical. Sports betting giants, payment providers and eSports providers are all part of the event.

Overall, there were five main categories and a total of 45 awards spread across all of them.

• Operator Category: 15 awards
• Operator & Supplier Category: 2 awards
• Affiliate Category: 3 awards
• Supplier Category: 21 awards
• Payment Category: 4 awards

Our primary focus was on the iGaming sphere, there were big-name software providers vying for supplier awards, while we also had one eye on payment supplier and operator awards we here at Casino Plus Bonus have experience with—namely Rootz and Trustly, which we will get into below.

Surprise Results: Although Wazdan, LeoVegas Group, SoftSwiss, Gamomat and Endorphina were all in contention for awards, surprisingly, they didn’t pick awards in this event. All five brands are regular iGaming awards winners and finalists, so we’ll be looking out for award wins from these brands in Q4 2022 and in 2023.

Which iGaming Suppliers & Operators Won SBC 2022 Awards in Barcelona?

• Pragmatic Play (Contested 5 awards): The slots, live casino, bingo and virtual sports supplier is always in the mix when iGaming awards are up for grabs. Pragmatic Play was on 5 shortlists and came up trumps for the ‘Virtual Sports Innovation’ award.
• Rootz Operator (Contested 2 awards): This is the operator behind Wheelz Casino and Wildz Casino both reviewed in our online casino review section. The brand won two awards—‘Innovation in Casino & Gaming Entertainment’ under the ‘Operators’ category. The company also landed the SILVER for the ‘Rising Star in Casino’ award under the ‘Supplier’ category.
• Playtech (Contested 6 awards): Another brand regularly in the running. The brand picked up the ‘Platform Provider of the Year’ award, then SILVER for the ‘Multi-Channel Supplier’ award and SILVER under the ‘Live Casino Supplier’ of the year award. All three awards were in the main ‘Supplier’ category.
• Relax Gaming (Contested 3 awards): A standout winner. Relax Gaming swept in two award recognitions out of three shortlists the brand appeared on under the ‘Suppliers’ category. The brand won the ‘Casino/Slots Developer Of The Year’ – the most prestigious video slot developer award in iGaming. On top of this, the company took SILVER for ‘Innovation in Casino Entertainment’. The brand was also on the ‘Industry Innovation Of The Year’ shortlist won by BETEGY.
• Evolution (Contested 1 award): The owner of Red Tiger Gaming (RTG), Big Time Gaming (BTG), NetEnt and Nolimit City came up trumps once again. It took down the ‘Live Casino Supplier of the year’ award in the ‘Suppliers’ category for the second year running after winning the same award in 2021.
• Trustly (Contested 2 awards): One of the most decorated payment suppliers in iGaming and sport betting awards. Time and again, this payment solution comes up trumps with awards, and this time the company took down the ‘Payment Innovation’ of the year and ‘Payment Solution’ of the year awards under the ‘Payment Awards’ category.
