The Cash Collect line of online slots created by Playtech has become an immense success across retail and online casinos.
Playtech announced this success just last month in a rare blog published by the software provider. We see plenty of news on the Playtech page but never a blog.
In the report, Playtech’s Lee Harford and Jodie Biglin talk about how the right selection of games added to both retail and online gambling entertainment environments has led to this success.
Some of the slot games mentioned in the report are available in both land-based venues and online casinos.
Lee Harford and Jodie Biglin highlighted games like Sahara Riches™ – Cash Collect and Leprechaun’s Luck Cash Collect MegaWays Christmas.
Another key point addressed is how the team at Playtech selects the correct games to feature on land-based video slots. For an online Cash Collect slot to make it onto the land-based scene, the team considers factors such as how well the game performs online.
This is excellent news if you live in a country like the UK where Playtech slot games are available offline. Plus, if you play land-based video slots and online slots, you get the best of both worlds.
More about Playtech: We are yet to add the Cash Collect feature to our main Playtech page. However, for an overview of the slot provider and its live casino games, you can visit the Casinoplusbonus Playtech software provider page.
What is Cash Collect?
The feature uses a Cash Collector symbol, which in most games is available on the fifth reel. On the reels, gold coin symbols with cash values or multipliers are available.
In the bullets below, we explain the Cash Collect slot mechanic. Yet, this is only the simplified version, as there is no one-size-fits-all with Cash Collect games.
Playtech developers ensure each slot offers the feature in a slightly different format so players get a new experience with each release. That said, the basic mechanic of how the coin collect symbol interacts with jackpots, gold coins, and free spins on the whole, uses the same or similar principles.
- Gold Coin Symbols: these symbols do not form combinations. They roll onto the reels with the regular, scatter, and wild symbols. Each one has a value on it. To turn these gold coins’ cash or multiplier values into a win, you need to spin in the Cash Collector symbol.
- Cash Collect Symbol: When this symbol lands on the reels, and there are gold coin symbols, it will collect the cash or multiplier amounts. The slot will quickly accumulate value and either apply the multiplier to your spin bet or pay the accumulated cash amount.
- Jackpot: These games also come with a fixed jackpot. If a jackpot symbol rolls in with a cash collect symbol, you could win 20x (Mini), 50x (Minor), 200x (Major) or 500x (Grand) jackpots that add these multipliers to your total spin bet.
- Top Reel Cash Collect: On Megaways slots, you will often find that the Cash Collect symbol is on a top reel. The slot setup uses 6 reels with the usual Megaways of 2 to 7 symbols per reel. Meanwhile, the top reel is horizontal and above reels 2-3-4-5 and always roll in 4 symbols.
- Free Spins: The Cash Collect symbol can also determine how many free spins you receive for the bonus game. Quite often, the free spins round can also use reel modifiers to increase the multiplier or cash value of gold coins.
What makes this feature so appealing is that on almost all Playtech Cash Collect games, it is available in the base game and free spins bonuses. It is a refreshing change to video slots and online slots that have little to offer during the base game.
Sahara Riches and Bee Frenzy in Playtech’s Top 5
Playtech also mentions its collection of Frenzy slot games, which are also available online and in land-based casinos. As a result of releasing these games onto the retail video slot scene, its Sahara Riches and Bee Frenzy slot games are now the top 5 most played Playtech games.
- Bee Frenzy: There is currently a single Frenzy-themed slot. This is Bee Frenzy Thundershot. You can play the Bee Frenzy demo version here to get acquainted with the game.
As for the official blog by Playtech, there is more information that covers land-based ECM. Overall, the team here at Casinoplusbonus are please Playtech released this blog, as it made us more aware of just how popular the software provider’s Cash Collect games are. It is also tempting me to go and give the land-based versions a run for their money the next time I visit the UK in the summer of 2025 for my annual 3-month stint to soak up the British summertime.
In the official ‘From Online Triumph to Retail Success’ blog, it also covers how “players benefit from ECM’s extensive capabilities, including a variety of traditional 1-90 bingo games, link games, national bingo, and the 4×4 style Cash Bingo”.
