We’ve already witnessed a plethora of Christmas-themed slots in recent weeks, as the above section proves. Below are two that we deemed good enough to break into our top 5 new releases of the week. • Gates of Olympus 1000 (Pragmatic Play)

How do you follow up on one of the most-played and streamed video slots – One that also won the Game of the Year at the 2021 EGR Operator Award and also won the same honour at the  Gaming Intelligence Latin America Awards 2021? Well, let’s give it a shot because we are about to discover that Pragmatic Play has released the long-awaited, and I would say the inevitable, sequel to Gates of Olympus.

Gates of Olympus 1000 hit the online casinos over the past week, and I jumped straight on it. Not just because I’m reviewing it here but also because the original is one of my favourite slots. What jumped out at me straight away is the sequel offers triple the maximum win of the original. Gates of Olympus 1000 offers a potential max win of 15,000x the stake compared to the 5,000x of Gates of Olympus.

That alone excited me as I powered up the slot for the first time. It is easy to understand why that increase is possible. The famous Multiplier Symbol of the original can now offer multipliers of up to 1,000x compared to the previous 500x. That’s obviously where the 1000 in the slot’s title comes from. As you’ll see from the features below, it is the ‘Mystery Symbol’, and its potential multipliers that once again play a key role in the free spins bonus.

Let’s take a look at those Pragmatic Play’s Gates of Olympus 1000 features in more detail:

• Scatter Pays Mechanic: The same pay-anywhere mechanic found on the original Gates of Olympus slot is back. You land win when at least 8 matching symbols land in any position on the reels.

Compared to the original Tycoons slot, there is no as much going on in the new release versus the original in terms of features. Tycoons comes with a progressive Jackpot (some casinos use a fixed jackpot), Wild Reels, Free Spins, Instant Wins, and Bonus Game. You could also select 1-30 Paylines. On the positive side, the new Tycoons: Billionaire Bucks comes with a higher theoretical RTP as the original was only 95.34%. So is the new Tycoons: Billionaire Bucks better than the original? I’d say they both offer equally as good gameplay with the new version obviously displaying superior graphics and animation.

Spin Bet Combination Multipliers: To trigger winning payouts with symbol combinations, matching symbols must land 3, 4, or 5 times on one of the winning paylines. Million Christmas 2 features a 6×10 reel layout that pays with adjacent reel mechanics. The win variance is unknown, but the theoretical RTP is 95.30%. And when I say Santa brings even bigger gifts, I mean many bonuses. This includes Wild symbols, Bonus symbols, Free Spins, Bonus Minigames, the Magic Portal Feature, and cascading reels.

• MillionWays™: The of this feature implies exactly what you are going to get spinning the reels. 1 million ways to win!
• Cascading Reels: Million Christmas 2023 operates with a cascading reels system. Every time that winning symbols are combined to secure a payout, the symbol will pay, after which they will disappear. How does the new Million Christmas 2023 slot weigh up versus its original release of Million Christmas last year (2022)? Let’s start with the similarities. They both have the same theoretical RTP of 95.30% and medium-high variance with the same max win of 10,000x your spin bet. You also have adjusted reels on both games and the chance to spin your way up to 1 million ways to win. You also still get the ‘Extra Heart’, ‘Multipliers’, and ‘Value Boost’. In fact, it’s difficult to separate the two slots aside from the name. The main differences are that Million Christmas 2023 version comes with a bonus feature, and the magic portals is a new addition.

I did look to see if I can find any Red Rake free spins or no deposit deals on any of the casino we’ve reviewed, but no such luck.
