In this month’s gambling industry update, we have a new CEO at Rootz, a freshly appointed CCO at Spribe, a new CFO at GeoComply, another at Kindred Group, and one more at NeoGames.

On the side of the coin, there are also departures to report. One at Light & Wonder as the CFO bids farewell to the software provider. Joining in on the action are appointment announcements at Codere, Star Entertainment (Australia), Freemarket, Atlas-IAC

On top of this, an ex-Playtech figurehead has found pastures new!

With the non-stop flurry of regulatory, payment, tech, and software provider partnerships flowing through the iGaming and online sports betting news grapevine, it stands to reason that there are just as many new appointments made across the various global gambling businesses.

The gambling market never stops. There are so many moving pieces. They are the glue holding the industry together, the engines keeping it going, and the fuel keeping players entertained. Partnerships are one side of the coin and on the other the people.

Rootz Has a New CEO – Sam Brown

CEO Rantala has stepped down as CEO leaving behind a legacy in charge of the operator that created two what are arguably the best online casinos out there right now. Rantala is now the chairman for the company while Sam Brown takes on the role of CEO.

Rootz as an operator is best known for its Wheelz and Wildz online casinos. Both operate within the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and Alcohol and Gambling Commission Ontario (AGCO) iGaming regulatory frameworks. These are two of the strictest and most player-focused licensing authorities in online gambling, while Rootz as an operator specialises in sublime player experiences at its online casino brands.

4 Gambling Companies See Changes to CFO Position

Probably one of the hottest seats in iGaming companies is the responsibility of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). I say hot because this is the position, I see that changes the most. The proof is here with 4 changes across the gambling industry.

Let’s take a look at the most recent CFO changes:

  • Light & Wonder: Connie James, the CFO of Light & Wonder will depart the Scientific Gaming software provider brainchild – L&W on 25 August 2023. Oliver Chow is now the temporary replacement.
  • GeoComply: Kelly Schaefer has been appointed as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). In the same breath, Lindsey Drake has taken on the role of CFO.
  • NeoGames: The recently acquired NeoGames has drafted Motti Gil into its ranks as the company’s new CFO. On 31 July 2023, he will replace Raviv Adler.
  • Kindred: Although not a permanent fixture, it is also worth mentioning that Kindred has appointed an interim CEO – Nils Andén.

Ex-Playtech CTO Ventures into Pastures New: Toby Sucharov, who was part of the Playtech software provider, is now part of Citizen as the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Sucharov was also part of William Hill before joining Playtech. He brings his wealth of innovative IT knowledge to Citizen.

More Noteworthy Gambling Appointments

  • SPRIBE: Appoints Giorgi Tsutskiridze as the company’s new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
  • Codere: Michal Elimelech has joined the Board of Directors for Codere
  • Freemarket: The very pretty Annie Osborne has joined Freemarket as the new Business Development Director. The company provides cross-border payments and currency exchange services to gambling businesses.
