Welcome back to the latest report covering the last few weeks’ worth of news stories covering licensing news in the gambling entertainment industry. This is a bitesize report to save you from searching multiple iGaming news websites for the top stories covering your competitors, partners, or favourite brands.
With so many countries adding domestic licensing to design a framework that protects local citizens but, most importantly, conjures up taxes from casinos, software providers and operators have their work cut out for them.
Case and point: on the Wazdan software provider webpage, you will see the game developer has licensing certs from the UKGC, MGA, Greece (HGC), Denmark (DGA), Lithuania, Latvia (LLGSI), Estonia (EMFA), Spain (DGOJ), Portugal (SRIJ), Switzerland (SGSA), Colombia (CRA), Italy (AAMS), West Virginia (Lottery i-Gaming Interim Supplier Licence), New Jersey (NJDGE), and Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB).
Operators like 888Casino, LeoVegas and other top-rated online casinos also have the same challenge to ensure their casino platforms are available to a global audience. However, every week, the gambling headlines have a new brand to announce a new licensing agreement with one of the many licensing authorities.
Below, I’ll cover some of the latest licensing agreements the Casinoplusbonus journalist team has picked up since the previous ‘New Gambling Licensing for Software Providers‘ news report version of this report published on 20 August 2023.
Software Provider & Aggregator Compliance Bite-size Stories
- Play’n GO Goes Live in West Virginia: The iGaming company famous for the most used online slot for free spins bonus deals, the Book of Dead, is now featuring in West Virginia, one of the six states with an online casino licensing framework. The licensing held is with the Lottery i-Gaming Interim Supplier License Authority (LiGISL). The game developer is also available at Michigan, New Jersey, and Connecticut casinos. Combining the population of these stats, there are over 25.5 million US Citizens. Add Ontario on top, and North America’s population reach is close to 40 million. We know this brand well from MGA, Curacao, and UKGC markets.
- 1×2 Gaming Live in Michigan: Another well-known slot developer, 1×2 Gaming, has expanded its US reach. This time, the UK tech hub of Brighton & Hove, United Kingdom, has gained its Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) licensing cert. Like Play’n Go, 1×2 Gaming is available in Ontario, Malta, Curacao, and the UK.
- Booming Games Portfolio Head to Denmark: The Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) has granted Booming Games its licensing cert to supply iGaming sites operating under its framework with online casino games. This adds to the company’s numerous licensing certs across Europe.
The UKGC has created a new industry forum designed to bring together stakeholders in the UK gambling market in order to better understand the points of views coming from operators. I covered the full story on 19 September 2023 here – UKGC Industry Forum Aims to Work with UK Operators.

Licensing Authority Updates, Fines & Bans
- Danish Authority Blocks 49 Illegal Gambling Websites: Bad news for websites not supposed to offer Danish players online casino games. Sites with Curacao licensing and those without licensing have been placed on Danish ISP blacklists after the Copenhagen City Court approved the move. The total number of sites now blocked is 276 throughout nine instances in which the country has blocked sites not operating under the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) regulatory framework.
- Netherland/NetX: NetX has been told to leave the Dutch market, thus cancelling its Dutch Gaming Authority (NGA) cert.
- Brazil Sports Betting Legal: Parliament passes sports betting and online gambling bill, something most did not expect. It now means the many sites operating in the country, such as Beette, Betsul, SL7, Vem Betar Brazil, Win Prêmios, and more, all recently partnered with Pragmatic Play this year, will need to register with the new licensing authority when it comes to fruition.
- AGA/Responsible Gambling Awareness: High awareness and low engagement in responsible gambling mean the US and its gambling operators are making players aware of responsible gambling tools and tests. However, low engagement has led to a new tactic that will use celebrity influencers to encourage the use of these tools.
