MGA Exposes Non Licensed Casinos

Business Man using computer laptop and pen paperwork document a desk. Business finance, tax, and investment concepts.

In case you are not looking at the news report on the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) website, the Casinoplusbonus team is here to update you.

In the table below, you will find a list of websites that have placed the MGA logo on their casino or sportsbook.

The MGA has exposed all the sites mentioned as the licensing authority had officially published multiple news reports denying any affiliation with the sites in question.

MGA Warn Players to Be Aware of Fake Gambling Sites

One of the issues faced by players like you and me is online gambling sites faking their affiliation with certain licensing authorities.

These sites employ various deceptive tricks, such as falsely claiming to operate under the MGA’s authority.

Most of them simply place the MGA logo in the footer but don’t mention any additional details. Yet, other casinos can go further using what I call deep deception tactics.

As a result, the latest set of websites that do not have MGA licensing but claim they do have become the target of the regulatory authority, which on its news pages makes a point of denying affiliation with these sites.

Online Casino Blacklist: These online casinos will also be added to our Casinoplusbonus EN online casino blacklist page. Every so often, feel free to check in on this page for a list of online casinos you should avoid.

Websites Exposed By the MGA

The table exposes a handful of websites the MGA has explicitly denied having any connections. In other words, these casinos are claiming to have an MGA license and they 100% do not!

Deep Deception Tactics

There are many deceptive tactics used to pull the wool over your eyes. The main tactic used by many of the gambling websites in the table gathered from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is to use the MGA logo and stop there. Yet, some will go to great lengths to deceive you.

  • Adding Footer Information: All online casinos place information in their footer about the operator, the company number, and the license number. Some casinos will add a fake Malta business, company number and MGA license number.
  • Terms & Conditions: The T&Cs of a gambling platform is where you find out more information about the operator and license. Some faking their MGA license will go as far as creating a T&Cs page that claims the platform operates under Malta remote gambling, privacy, and financial laws.
  • Clickable Logos: The most worrying deep fakes are those that go as far as faking the clickable Malta Gaming Authority logo. You could select the logo and it takes you to a page laid out exactly the same as the MGA’s licensing certificate.

Why Do Some Casinos Fake Licensing?

There are some obvious and not obvious reasons why online casinos, and even online sports books, fake their license.

  • Add Reputation: The operator wants to project the reputation and prestige that comes with the license it is faking to hold.
  • Faking Financial Stability: This is a worrying one. If the gambling website cannot afford licensing, then it probably isn’t well financially backed. This also means if you choose to play at one of these casinos, your casino balance is at risk.
  • Adding Fake Games: Many fake online casinos copy the games of genuine software providers and add them to their sites. With AI tech and a clever programmer, this is possible. Fake games can come with RTPs as low as 20% to 50%. On top of this, the RNGs clearly will not have a valid certification from reputable RNG and security software companies like eCOGRA, BMM Testlabs, iTech Labs, QUINEL, and GLI.
  • No Legal Implications: The casino can lure players in via its claim to holding an MGA license, but when it comes to paying out big wins, they suspend or delete your account. When it comes time to complain to or about the platform, you are led in circles due to fake information, and therefore, there is no way to bring a lawsuit against the operator.
