Curacao GMB Licesning

Curacao is taking its first steps to weed out corrupt online casinos that took advantage of loopholes in the previous framework. (Images courtesy of chaylek on Vecteezy)

Yesterday, I created a Reddit post that gave those of you who follow the Casinoplusbonus thread a quick glimpse into one of the many changes coming to the Curacao licensing framework.

The Reddit thread Curacao Licensing Authority Big Changes Happening gives us a look at the logo we can expect to appear in the footer of online casinos operating under eGaming laws under the Government of Curacao.

The main news story here is that any online casino with the Curacao Gaming Services Provider N.V. (365/JAZ) licensing certificate is now invalid. As per Curacao’s online gambling industry changes, operators were informed that they could not renew this licence once it expired.

Why is this important?

Any online casino still showing the old logo is probably not planning on replacing the old licensing certificate with the new GCB version.

In other words, Curacao is now taking its first steps to rid its industry of operators who are not focused on player experience. Any online casinos that do not make the switch we can reasonably assume cannot pass the new stricter financial and player protection rules implemented via the new licensing laws.

The New Gaming Control Board (GCB)

On 28 December 2023, I reported the changes to the Curacao licensing system were already passed through the government.

You can rewind to that report here – New Curacao Online Casino Licensing Laws in which I specifically mention the transition to the new Gaming Control Board (GCB) licensing.

Now the first of those changes in place with the expiration of the Curacao Gaming Services Provider N.V. (365/JAZ) licensing certificate.

Casinos should now show the GMB logo to show that they are now in the process of switching to the new licence

If the Expired 365/JAZ Curacao Licence logo appears, casinos have not applied for a new GMB licensing cert

What is the Current Licensing in Place and Planned Expiry

The current licensing certificates in the country will expire at different times.

The licence numbers for the Curaçao eGaming licensing authorities typically do not have a publicly stated expiration date as they are subject to ongoing regulatory compliance and renewals managed by the respective authority.

Current casinos reviewed on Casinoplusbonus under the expired 365/JAZ Sublicence:

  • Gomblingo – the casino currently displays the new GMB logo
  • Riviera Play – currently displaying the old logo (we will keep an eye on this)
Licensing Authority License Number
Curaçao eGaming (Curaçao Interactive Licensing N.V.) 1668/JAZ
Antillephone N.V. 8048/JAZ
Gaming Curaçao (Cyberluck Curaçao N.V.) 1668/JAZ
Curaçao Internet Gambling Association (CIGA) 365/JAZ

As soon as we know when each one expires, we’ll let you know. As we have our finger on the buzzer when it comes to casino licensing and reviews online casino here Casinoplusbonus regularly, we’ll create more Reddit and casino news so you know what’s happening.
