The new UK affordability checks pilot project should finish this February. That means a new affordability check trigger will come into place.
Important
- No Action Required by British Players: The checks will not require you to provide any information as they are designed to be non-intrusive.
- Automatic Data Verification and Sources: The checks will use publicly available data, such as bankruptcy records and County Court Judgments (CCJs).
Current Affordability Check Trigger Levels
- The Pilot Trigger (£500): Anyone depositing £500 or more within a 30-day rolling period, the online gambling platform will trigger an internal affordability check process.
- The New Rules (£150): At some point during February, the affordability check limit will trigger when you accumulate deposits of £150 or more.
FYI
The official statement by the UKGC is as follows: "To ease introduction, these checks will initially come into force at £500 a month from 30 August 2024 before reducing to £150 a month from 28 February 2025". I thought we'd have to provide bank statements and jump through more hoops. But it doesn't bother me if they don't bother me with these silly 'I want to be in power' checks. The same with the KYC checks in the UK. They are automatically carried out. I am happy to see it's all finally been decided.
To the UKGC - Can I just please get on play please without any more irruptions?
Me Me Me
So if I do have bankruptcy records or County Court Judgments (CCJs) what happens then?
I had no idea they even existed until I saw this post. I deposited over £500 in December. I guess I passed their check test then.
@casinoguru I saw this as well. They won't stop you gambling but if you have CCJs or debt or something they flag, they will put a limit on how much you can deposit every month. My friend had it done to his Betfred account. He opened a new account at Pokerstars and they done the same there.
