The international gambling industry is constantly growing and evolving. Canada’s casino market is at the peak of this evergrowing international industry.

Record-breaking numbers have jumped aboard the online casino trends, with a remarkable number of young people also turning to recreational gambling.

Ontario is one of the areas in Canada that has seen the biggest rise in online gambling and sports betting. The sudden rise in Ontario is partly because of legal regulations and partly due to negotiations with local authorities.

A select few companies are leading the vanguard of this expanding market in Canada. Companies such as Rivalry, NorthStar, PowerPlay, Sportradar, and Sportnet have recently made moves that make them worth mentioning in this regard.

The Canadian casino market currently has a provincial licensing authority in Ontario that allows private operators to open online casinos and sports books in the province as per the Canadian online casino info here. There are other licensing authorities such as the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), which covers all of Canada, while British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) is another authority that does not allow private operators with its gambling entertainment sites operated by the provincial government.

Rivalry’s Record Profits

Rivalry’s record-breaking profits have turned heads in the Canadian casino world.

The record number was C$8.7 million in the third quarter of 2023 alone. That makes it a 22% increase in 2022’s third-quarter profits. The company’s betting handle for the same 2023 quarter was C$105.7 million, a big 50% increase compared to Q3 of 2022.

For those who are not familiar with them, Rivalry is a Canadian iGaming and sportsbook operator.

Rivalry’s gross profit also climbed 90% from Q3 in 2022 to Q3 in 2023. Their total betting handle for the first 9 months of 2023 came in at C$338.1 million. This is a shocking 127% year-over-year increase.

There is no doubt that the market is increasing rapidly and companies who can align themselves correctly will reap all the benefits.

Rivalry co-founder and CEO mentioned that their disciplined cost management is to thank for a big portion of their success. The casino section was to be thanked for half of their total betting handle and a part of that was their innovative product launches like Cash & Dash.

NorthStar’s Partnership with BettorView

When we look at success in the online casino industry, we will mostly see collaborations between the industry’s big guns. One such collaboration is the newly found partnership between NorthStar and BettorView. Northstar is a Canadian online casino and betting company with heavy investment coming from Playtech, and the prospect of further investment.

NorthStar already operates in Ontario through its highly popular online casino and sportsbook platform under an iGaming Ontario licensing certificate. With this new partnership, the brand aims to further solidify its position in the Canadian province.

The new partnership will aim to acquire more players to partake in NorthStar’s online casino and sports betting. The key to success between the two well-established brands is to leverage BettorView’s leading technology and innovative solutions. These include in-house play screens, brand ambassador strategies, and digital marketing content.

BettorView’s plug-and-play technology focuses on enhancing the customer’s game experience by delivering localised and customised content that increases engagement and enjoyment. It is yet another bold move by the Playtech partner to attract more players and increase growth.

Sportradar and Sportsnet Collaboration

Another big development is the partnership between Sportradar and Sportsnet.

Sportsnet is already a well-established Canadian sports network, but with Sportradar’s data-driven content, they will further expand their coverage. This will be done by using Sportradar’s technology to get access to real-time statistics, player profiles and information, and more advanced data sets.

With access to Sportsradar’s advanced data sets, statistical experts, and research applications, Sportsnet will be able to drastically improve its storytelling. This will greatly benefit the networks MLB and NHL broadcasts.

Sportradar’s Head of Regional Sales expressed his excitement for this collaboration to enrich the viewing experience of sports fans. This support will extend to Sportsnet’s entire brand portfolio.

Serial Award-Winner: From the gambling awards calendar events in 2023, we have seen Sportradar win numerous awards. Sports Data / Live Betting Product at the SBC Latino American Awards, Sportsbook Platform Supplier Bronze at the EGR B2B Awards, and silver for Sports Book Supplier at the Global Gaming Awards Las Vegas.

PowerPlay.com’s Five-Year Anniversary

PowerPlay.com is celebrating its fifth anniversary in the Ontario market. In the spirit of this celebration, the online casino operator has announced an exclusive members-only extravaganza. It will include a variety of anniversary surprises and bonuses.

The company’s CEO expressed his pride in what they have accomplished and emphasized their commitment to innovation and player satisfaction.

Although they have accomplished a lot already PowerPlay is committed to keeping up their rapid expansion in the Ontario market. They will continually elevate the gaming experience by bringing new features and personalized enhancements.

PowerPlay has been well-established as one of the favorites amongst players since its 2022 entrance to the Ontario market.
