The long-awaited results of the 2022 Global Gaming Awards are now in and we can tell you that the ceremony has awarded some of the biggest names in the gambling industry top awards in recognition of their efforts throughout the past year.
Held yesterday on the 11th of April at the Hippodrome Casino in London, the GGA Awards is one of the biggest dates on the iGaming calendar. Recognised among the most illustrious of gambling awards ceremonies, the Global Gaming Awards has once again determined the winners of 15 award categories across the sports betting, casino, and online casino sectors.
Most of you will be familiar with the names that have walked away with honours or have made the top 3 in each category. We can tell you that the likes of Evolution (the company that owns the Red Tiger, Ezugi, NetEnt, and Big Time Gaming brands), LeoVegas Casino, NetEnt and IGT have all been recognised for their continued excellence in an increasingly competitive industry. As ever, the KPMG in the Crown Dependencies was the awards adjudicator who reviewed each nomination for the categories before determining the winners.
LeoVegas once again won the Online Casino of the Year Award, an award it has won every year since the Global Gaming Awards London was established. Evolution was another to retain its title, this time beating Pragmatic Play and Playtech to the Online Casino Supplier of the Year award. NetEnt also walked away with a new crown, as the Evolution-owned company took home the Product Launch of the Year Award for its online slot, Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen. Other notable winners include IGT, a company that is in the process of acquiring iSoftBet, which won the land-based Casino Supplier of the Year, and Trustly, which won the Payment Solution of the Year just ahead of Paysafe.
Return to Normality: The 2021 Global Gaming Awards was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, due to the relaxing of restrictions, the 2022 event was able to return to normality. This means that iGaming firms could once again attend in person to receive their awards.
Below, we have listed the winners and runner-ups for eight of the biggest categories. Winners of those omitted include Paddy Power, which won the Betting Shop Operator of the Year, bet365 as the Online Sports Betting Operator, Kambi which won two awards, and The Hippodrome, which won Casino of the Year.
Two Regions to Come for the 2022 Global Gaming Awards: The 2022 Global Gaming Awards in London is just the first of three events planned this year. In August, we will see the Global Gaming Awards for the Asian market and in October in Las Vegas is when the North American awards will get handed out.
How’s it going, folks? I'm Matthew O'Connor from Ireland, and I now live in London. Like my co-authors, I have been playing casino games and writing about the iGaming industry for over two decades. I started as a poker player with aspirations of becoming a pro. However, I was not as good as I was in my dreams. I have also played what were once fruit machines, but now most pubs and casinos in the UK and Ireland are video slots. I also play online slots, live casino games, and other forms of gambling, mostly for fun. As gambling is one of my many hobbies, I use my experience to guide others via the power of a pen (keyboard)
