From 6 April 2025, all gambling companies in the UK must pay compulsory levies to support problem gambling research, treatment, and prevention. Proceeds will go to non-profits and other groups with a focus on preventing problem gambling.
- Online Operators: To pay a levy of 1.1% Gross Gambling Yield (GGY)
- Land-based Operators: To pay a levy of 01.%, 0.2%, or 0.5% Gross Gambling Yield (GGY)
Will it mean casinos have less money and reduce the RTP on games? If it does, then a big fat no. Bad idea. Addiction is a choice. Why should I have to pay for someone else that has no control over their spending?
I have the same concern at @asmitty. If the costs become high, RTPs could go down. I know the casinos can reduce RTPs if they want to. But I would say only the smaller casinos would resort to it. When people know which casinos are doing it, it could mean people won't play there. Already a crap choice in the UK as it is. Look at other countries that have loads of online casinos to choose from.
@jimdon I don't understand what it? How can it make RTP lower England?
