A player who in fact won a lower jackpot win but the screen showed a million GBP win took an operator to court and won. The judge said that if the message displayed the wrong jackpot win, the casino still must pay the player.
We covered the story here - UK Court Award Jackpot Winner £1m
- Was the court fair in awarding the win?
- What happens if the player wins a £1m jackpot and the message displays a £20k win - does that mean the casino is only obliged to pay the £20k?
About time. Not the player's fault the software is faulty or poorly coded. As for your second question, no, if the paytable and the game rules point to winning 1 million, the player wins 1 million even if the screen says 20k. The customer is always right - up to the casinos to ensure their shit is working as it should be.
haha it's a little bit like Marmite - you either love or you hate it.
Here's my issue. If the slot shows you a 20,000 quid win for a 1 million quid jackpot, can the casino argue what you see is what you get? A bit of reverse psychology there. Has this lady just cost millionaire winners thousands? If Paddy proved it was a technical mistake, the precedence set by this judge could harm other players right?

Fair point!
Yeah. I would be annoyed if I didn't get paid. But does it mean the casino has to be honest when you win the big jackpot and it shows you only won the small jackpot? Did she get her money or is there going to be an appeal? summar judgement from what I can read means they were forced to pay? Sorry I'm no lawyer lol
