Trending in the UK and under the new online gambling rules coming to Ireland are banks that offer gambling block tools.
We want to know:
- Do you or have you ever used your bank to block gambling transactions?
- Do you think banks offering these services is a good idea?
For context, here are some past news reports we've produced here on Casinoplusbonus:
I'm not sure how anyone could think they're a bad idea. Any tool that a problem gambler can use to limit their habit is great. I myself do not have a gambling problem, but I can see how I could get one easily if it were not for me making sure I gamble respinsibly.
We should have the same here in SA. But some people don't use the banks. There are different ways to top up sports and gambling that it wouldn't work with.
My bank in the UK has the same option. But I can easily get around it using alternative payments methods. If I ever feel like I've gambled too much or tilt, I use my casino's cooling off or self exclude tool. Once I've banned myself, there is no workaround. But it is ok that banks also include gambling blocks.
Me Me Me
My AIB account offer gamble block but it's annoying if I use it to block casino transactions because I can't put a few euros on sports bets or buy lottery tickets on my card. They need to make it more flexible. If you want to take the block off, you’ve to wait three full days. I understand why they have a time limit but 3 days is too long. To get around it I joined Wheelz casino. They’ve proper self-exclusion, deposit limits, and all the responsible tools built in. Handy enough when you want to keep a bit of control without locking everything down using your bank block.
