Another week of hot new casino game releases is in the bag, and as always, I’m on hand to tell you all about them. Since our last update, there have been another 31 casino games released, including video slots, live casino games, virtual table games, and jackpot slots.

Amazingly, that’s exactly the same number of new titles released the week before and added to 223 new releases we already knew about to date in 2024, it brings us up to 254 for the year so far.

As for the software providers giving us some exciting new content in the last week, Betsoft, Relax Gaming Play’n Go, Blueprint Gaming, Switch Studios, Wazdan, OnAir Entertainment, and 3 Oaks Gaming were just some of those who launched new casino games.

Top 5 Video Slot Releases – 2024 Week 9 Update

So, what were the slot releases we voted as the best in the week since our last report? As always, deciding our top 5 new slot games became a heated debate, which was only settled once we put the decision to a vote. The slots that made the list this week were Sweetopia Royale (Relax Gaming), Dark Waters Power Combo™ (Just For The Win), Legion Gold Unleashed (Play’n Go), and Wheel O’Gold (Pragmatic Play). Below, we’ve put together some short reviews of those new titles – but if you want to know what else hit the casino shelves in the last week, make your way to the end of this article.

• Take The Vault – HOLD & WIN™ (Betsoft)

Now, here’s a slot we’ve been waiting for! Especially me. I am not the regular weekly new online casino game publisher. My days in iGaming go back to the beginning of the internet, so I was around when BetSoft released its first online casino games. To cut a long story short, I love this developer. However, it was a vote by the entire team that got the latest Take The Vault – HOLD & WIN into this week’s ‘Top 5 Online Slots’ section.

I remember the original release of Take the Bank in 2019, which, by all accounts, is still on our BetSoft software provider’s review as a Top 10 BetSoft video slot title. And I am also enjoying the fact that BetSoft is releasing new versions of older slots, like Tycoons (2011), recently released as Tycoons: Billionaire Bucks, Mr Vegas (2010), recently released as Mr. Vegas 2: Big Money Tower, and Enchanted (2010), recently released as Enchanted: Forest of Fortune Hold & Win. Take The Vault – HOLD & WIN brings the gang back together that we came to know from Betsoft’s Take The Vault slot.

This time, it comes with a fresh feel and extra features. This new version of Take The Vault still has 75 winning paylines with a 5-reel and 4-row layout. The RTP is still at 96.21%, and the win volatility is high. The many bonus features include the following: Free Spins, Progressive Rounds, Hold and Win, Buy Feature, Scatter symbols, Wild symbols, and Bonus symbols.

BetSoft Take The Vault – HOLD & WIN™ Slot Features Explained

• Progressive Detonate Wilds Rounds: To the right of the reels, you will see a detonator. This will count down from 10 to 0, with each spin counting down 1 number. Throughout the 10 spin countdown, when Bandit symbols land, he leaves behind a small TNT icon that will stick in the bottom left-hand corner of the reel position. The Bandit symbols do not remain sticky, thus freeing up the reel for more symbols, but the mini TNT stick icon will remain. After 10 spins, all wins will pay, and then positions with the TNT symbols will detonate, turning these positions into Wild Symbols. Any news wins will then pay.
• Hold and Win Feature: This feature is triggered when 6 or more Bonus symbols land on the reels. All the bonus symbols that trigger the feature will be locked into place, and 3 respins will start. Any additional Bonus or Jackpot symbols that land will also lock into place, and it will reset the number of respins. Each Bonus Symbol will have a value attached to it, which, at the end of the round, all values will accumulate to give you a grand total for your spin bet multiplier.
• Fixed Jackpots: You can win one of 4 fixed jackpots – ‘Mini’, ‘Minor’, ‘Major’, and ‘Grand’ during the Hold and Win feature. If you land one of these jackpot symbols, you get paid 50x, 100x, 500x, or 1,000x, your spin bet. Plus, these symbols will also accumulate with other multiplier wins from the Hold and Win feature.
• Bonus Symbol: Bonus symbols will also reveal a bonus price. This can be either a cash value or a mini, minor, major, or grand prize.
  Free Spins: 3 Scatters appearing on reels 2, 3, and 4 will trigger the Free Spins Feature. Along with 15 free spins, players will also get from 5 to 10 randomly scattered wild symbols, and these will move to new locations with every new free spin.
• Wild Symbols: Wilds will count as a substitution symbol for any of the other regular paying symbols that exclude the Scatter symbols.
• Buy Feature: Free Spins can also be purchased by paying the 100x purchase price.

Compared to the original version, ‘Take the Bank’ in 2019, the 5×4 reels with 75 pay lines have been retained in the new Take The Vault – HOLD & WIN™ version. As for the theoretical RTPs between these games, there is not much difference. 96.08% on Take the Bank, and a slightly higher 9.21% on the sequel. Also, Take the Bank original came with 2 feature rounds, which were Heist Spins and Free Spins with a Buy Feature, while the new Take The Vault – HOLD & WIN comes with 2 features, but this time one of them is a respins Hold & Win game with the chance to win 4 fixed jackpots. Combination Spin Bet Multipliers:To trigger bet multipliers, a combination of matching symbols need to land on one of the fixed paylines. Most symbols need to land at least 3 times on a payline to trigger a payout, but the highest-paying diamond symbol will also pay for landing 2 times. The highest bet multiplier is awarded for 5 of the same symbol. These are the max multipliers per symbol: diamond (2.5x), gun (2x), safe (1.5x), gold/booze/cash (1x), A/K (0.6x), Q/J (0.5x), 10/9 (0.25x).

• Sweetopia Royale (Relax Gaming)

If you’re a fan of sickly sweet candy-themed slots such as Pragmatic Play’s Sugar Rush and Sweet Bonanza, you’re going to love the sugar high you’ll get when playing Relax Gaming’s latest release, Sweetopia Royale. It is a 7×7 grid slot that utilises the Cluster Pays mechanic to determine wins, has a 96.1% RTP, is highly volatile, offers a max win of 5,000x, and is packed to the rafters with bonus features.

Cascading reels ensure the chance of landing chain reaction wins from a single spin, while there are also re-spins, feature symbols, symbol upgrades, random features, giant mystery symbols, and a free spins bonus you can trigger manually or purchase via the by bonus feature. Let’s get into each of those features in more detail below.

Sweetopia Royale Slot Features Explained

There’s quite a bit to get through here, but I wouldn’t have it any other way – the more bonus features, the better, in my opinion!

• Cluster Re-Spins: All winning clusters lock in place while all remaining positions receive a re-spin. This continues until no new combinations are formed.

• Sweet Surprise Random Feature: A Mystery Symbol sized 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4 appears on the reels.
• Lucky Re-Spin: Triggered randomly, symbols around a winning cluster can receive a re-spin.
• Cluster Combo: Two different clusters can merge to form a larger cluster. The cluster is made up of the highest-value symbols of the two.
• Candy Coin Re-Spin: Coin symbols worth 1x to 1,000x the stake can appear on the reels and form clusters. When the latter occurs, all other symbols receive a re-spin.
• Scatter Symbol: 3 or more scatter symbols trigger a free spins bonus. 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 scatters reward 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 free spins, respectively.
• Free Spins: All the above features play a part in the free spins bonus. You receive an additional free spin and an upgraded feature symbol after every 5 re-spins.
• Buy Bonus: You can purchase the free spins bonus for 60x your stake.

Candy-themed slots have proved popular for many years now, and Sweetopia Royale is yet another to add to your playlist. I had a great time testing out this slot and the many features it has – but is it up there with the likes of the award-winning Sugar Rush? • Dark Waters Power Combo™ (Just For The Win)

So far, 2024 has been a fantastic year for Just For The Win, mainly due to the software developer scooping the Game of the Year at the International Gaming Awards for the excellent Golden Fields slot. The question is, can JFTW keep up the good work by producing equally good slots going forward? I guess we know the answer, as the third game to make our top 5 this week is their latest slot release, Dark Waters Power Combo™, a 6-reel and 4-row slot offering up to 46,656 ways to win, a 96% RTP and 5,000x max win.

Dark Waters Power Combo™ features a 6×4 grid that, as standard, offers 4,096 ways to win. However, it can expand up to 6×6, and that is when those ways to win dramatically increase! As for the other features to look forward to, these include four fixed jackpots, money symbols with multipliers of up to 10x, and a free spins bonus.

Dark Waters Power Combo™ carries a pirate theme and is a well-designed slot boasting good graphics, superb animations, and some exciting bonus features. It is the latter that I’ll take you through now, as there are some great features to look out for.

• Wild Symbols: These help create or enhance winning combinations by substituting for all regular symbols.
• Money Symbols: These can appear in both the base game and during free spins and will have values of 1x up to 10x the stake or will display one of the Mini (15x), Minor (40x), Major (200x), or Mega (5,000x) fixed jackpot prizes. However, you’ll only win the values if a Collect symbol lands on the first reel on the same spin.
• Free Spins Bonus: Any time one of the red (Multi-Collect), purple (Giant Reels), or blue (Golden Reel) tokens lands on the reels, there is a chance the free spins bonus will trigger. The tokens represent modifiers that apply to the free spins bonus. If two or three tokens land, the free spins feature will play out with two or three modifiers, respectively.

Play’n Go takes us back to the days of the Roman Empire in Legion Gold Unleashed, a sequel to the original and popular Legion Gold slot released in 2022. It offers a similar 5×3 setup with 25 fixed paylines, a medium variance, 96.25% RTP, and a decent max win of 3,000x the stake. The latter is slightly improved on the 2,000x of the original, while this sequel also comes with many of the same features carried over from the first game.

Legion Gold Unleashed Slot Features Explained

So, let’s break down the different features you will come across on the Legion Gold Unleashed slot game:

• Wild Symbols: Will substitute for all symbols apart from the scatter symbol. The Wild symbol also pays 1x, 10x, and 20x the stake when landed in a 3, 4, or 5-symbol combination, respectively.
• Scatter Symbols: 3 or more scatter symbols in any position on the reels will trigger the free spins bonus.
• Gold Coin Bag Money Collect: When a Gold Coin Bag lands on the reels, it will collect the values of all Gold Coin symbols in view.
• Gold Re-Spins Feature: 6 or more gold coin symbols anywhere in view will trigger the Gold Re-Spins bonus. You receive 3 re-spins of reels that can only land coin symbols with rewards of between 1x and 10x the stake. Each time a new Coin symbol lands, the response reset back to 3. The round ends when you fill all positions to win 1,000x the stake or when you run out of respins.
• Mega Free Spins: You receive 5 free spins of reels that now guarantee a 3×3 Mega Symbol on every spin. You can retrigger the free spins up to a total of nine times.

What I liked more than anything about the Legion Gold Unleashed slot is its excellent presentation. The slot starts off with a well-designed cutscene, and the graphics and animations throughout are of the highest quality. As for the gameplay, I found it enjoyable, especially because there are two bonus games. The Gold Coin Collect symbols often make an appearance, too – meaning you can pick up some decent wins as you spin the reels, hoping to trigger one of the aforementioned bonus games.

Combination Spin Bet Multipliers: You receive a payout everytime three or more matching symbols land across the paylines. The five-symbol payouts on Legion Gold Unleashed are: Wild Symbol (20x), Elephant (20x), Tiger (16x), Crocodile (12x), Eagle (8x), Ace/King/Queen/Jack (2x).

• Wheel O’Gold (Pragmatic Play)

As Pragmatic Play releases up to 8 new slots each month, it means we’re practically guaranteed a new one for each new casino games report we produce. The latest title to come off the production line is the leprechaun-themed slot, Wheel O’Gold, a 6×5 scatter pays slot with a 10,000x max win, high variance, and an RTP of 96.07%.

The name gives some hints about the main feature, a multiplier wheel that can deliver a win multiplier of between 2x and 50x. The catch is that to trigger that feature, you need five consecutive cascading wins to occur. Then again, at least you know your final multiplier will apply to winnings picked up through those five cascades.

• Cascading Reels: After a winning combination, the winning symbols disappear so that new ones can drop into play. This can lead to multiple wins happening on the same spin.
• Multiplier Wheel: It is those cascade wins that you’ll need if you want to trigger a spin on the Multiplier Wheel. You’ll need five or more on the same spin, in fact. The spin will reveal a multiplier of up to 50x that will apply to the total win from that spin.
• Free Spins Bonus: You’ll receive 10, 15, or 20 free spins when 4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols land, respectively. You receive a spin on the Multiplier Wheel before the spins start, and that is to determine the win multiplier that applies to the symbol combinations that land. Also, if you collect enough scatter symbols during the free spins bonus, you’ll receive another 4 free spins and another spin on the multiplier wheel – this time, that value is added to your old value.
