The 2022 Global Regulatory Awards shortlists are here for the sixth time in the event’s history. The occasion brings to the table an awards ceremony that recognises the efforts made by operators, lawyers, law firms, casinos, software developers and others involved with online and land-based gambling.
However, this is not an awards ceremony that celebrates game tech, supply, or gambling platform brilliance. Instead, the focus is on companies and brands that consistently go the extra mile to create a safe and trustworthy gambling environment for players.
As the name implies, the theme of the event is ‘Regulatory’. In total, there are 20 awards covering areas such as AML/MLR, Safer Gambling, Responsible Gambling, Gambling Law, Compliance Innovation, Integrity, Marketing, and more. The only other awards event that focuses heavily on regulatory awards to some extent is the EGR Marketing & Innovation Awards—winners lists are available here.
There are a number of iGaming competing for awards while the event also includes land-based companies such as Genting Casino. Genting operates numerous land-based establishments across the UK and streams its Roulette tables for online bets in conjunction with Evolution Live Dual Play tables.
However, being iGaming-focused, we will focus our efforts on the Global Regulatory Awards 2022 shortlists that grabbed our attention. That is those with names we regularly cover, such as land-based and online casino game developers and suppliers IGT, Playtech, Merkur and Amusnet.
When/Where is the 2022 Global Regulatory Awards? The De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London will host the awards ceremony on 30 November 2022. More information on the event is available directly via the Gambling Compliance Awards website.
Which iGaming Brands are on the shortlists?
Being recognised as a safe, fair and integrally sound iGaming company is like gold dust. It is a rare award to win and one that gives iGaming companies unique bragging rights. Especially considering the Global Regulatory Awards is one of the few events that recognise regulatory compliance. In the lists, you will find a brief overview of every iGaming brand we regularly cover and on the shortlists for a possible award win.
- iSoftBet (4 Awards Shortlists): Owned by the land-based casino game developer, IGT, iSoftbet is a software provider regularly featured in our news stories. It will look to pick up the ‘AML / MLR Officer of the Year’, ‘Compliance Professional of the Year’, ‘Chief Compliance Officer of the Year’, and ‘Compliance team of the Year’ awards.
- IGT (2/3 Awards Shortlists): As well as its iSoftbet developer studio brand in contention for 4 awards, the IGT brand is up for 3 awards itself. There are two contenders up for the ‘Compliance Professional of the Year’ – Mark Halstead and Sara Condo. Meanwhile, the brand will be looking to pick up the ‘Responsible Gambling Service/Solution Provider’ award.
- GLI – Gaming Laboratories International (3 Awards Shortlists): A company tasked with keeping random number generators (RNGs) and live dealer software in check, GLI is an integral part of the iGaming industry. As a testament to its contribution to safer gambling, it is up for ‘Compliance Professional of the Year’, ‘Chief Compliance Officer of the Year’, and ‘Head of Regulatory Affairs/Government Relations’ awards.
- Light & Wonder (3 Awards Shortlists): Recently rebranded from Scientific Games, but still under the company structure, the Light & Wonder brand is in contention for the ‘Compliance Rising Star’, ‘Chief Compliance Officer of the Year’, and ‘Head of Regulatory Affairs/Government Relations’ awards.
- Merkur Group (2 Awards Shortlists): Founded in 1957, this is one of the longest-running gambling brands in history. It is no surprise the developer is involved in this awards event’s shortlists. The software developer is looking to win the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Safer Gambling’ and ‘Compliance team of the Year’ awards.
- Scientific Games (1 Award Shortlist): Its Light & Wonder Brand has 3 awards, and Scientific games, which now focuses on its lottery gambling vertical will hope to win the ‘Responsible Gambling Service/Solution Provider’ award, which is perhaps one of the most prestigious of the 20 awards up for grabs.
- William Hill (1 Award Shortlist): Now the dust has settled, William Hill is officially part of 888 Holdings. In this awards ceremony, the popular sports betting and online casino brand will contend for the ‘In-House Counsel or Legal Team’ award.
- 888 Holdings (1 Award Shortlist): An established global company, the owner of William Hill Europe, and listed on the London Stock Exchange, it comes as no surprise 888 is in the running. The company is up for the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Safer Gambling’ award. If you are interested, you can see the 888Casino platform here.
More Noteworthy iGaming Brands on the Shortlists: To cut things a little short on the descriptions, there’s also NetBet Enterprises, Pariplay, Parimatch and Game Global software providers in contention for awards. Plus, from the payment solution angle, there is also PaySafe Group, which features in the ‘payments awards’ section in almost all major iGaming and sports betting awards events.
