Microgaming CEO, John Coleman, will step down from his role on 31st December 2021 to be replaced by current COO, Andrew Clucas.
The news on the Microgaming news pages brings to an end a nearly 17-year affiliation with Microgaming, after his appointment as CEO in June 2018, serving as CFO for the company for nearly 14 years previously. He has seen the world’s first iGaming company invent the new ‘no pay line’ concept for video slots, saw through live casino gaming, which headed over to Asia, and the introduction of new partner studios designing games under Microgaming.
On top of this, Mr Coleman has seen through the amazing invention of the WowPot pooled jackpot network and the expansion of the Mega Moolah network on a jackpot network that has built up to over EUR 1.5 billion during his tenure. Within that network the partner studios have also been involved – Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah by Neon Vally Studios and absolutely Mad: Mega Moolah by Triple Edge Studios – the latter currently holding the Guinness Book of Record for the highest progressive jackpot win online today of EUR 19.4 million. Book of Atem WowPot is also up there in the record book. The slot was developed by All41 Studios and recently paid out EUR 17.5 million. Both networks continue to grow!
As Microgaming’s CEO John has lifted the company’s position in the international iGaming market considerably after focusing on widening the products offered by the company and driving its visions and strategies forwards. All of this has been brought whilst always keeping safer gambling, employee wellbeing and corporate social responsibility as critical areas to his decision making.
John Coleman’s replacement, Andrew Clucas, joined the company in 2009 after a hugely rewarding stint in the Royal Air Force. Andrew quickly rose through the ranks to head up multiple areas of the company, including business sales and development, to then finally be appointed as Chief Operating Officer in 2018.

Andrew Clucas took the opportunity to praise all of the hard work that John had put into the business after leading for almost two decades and noted that he thought John had been a fantastic ambassador for the company. Andrew went on to say that it was a great honour to become CEO of Microgaming and hoped to lead with the very same commitment and passion.
John Coleman was the one to break the news and went on to state that it had been an honour to be with such a brilliant business for so long but it was his time to move on to new challenges, he also took the opportunity to congratulate his friend, Andrew, for his appointment and said that he had the utmost confidence in him to lead Microgaming into the future.

One of His Final Deals to See Through Is the Sale of Quickfire to Games Global Limited
As news came out of a change in CEO at the end of the year, another announcement came from soon to be ex-CEO Coleman, and one that is a bit of a shock if we are honest. For as long as we can remember, Quickfire has been one of Microgaming’s key game delivery systems. It was a shrewd purchase that helped Microgaming distribute its games on a multi-platform delivery system when mobile was coming into popularity.
Now the company will change hands once again after more than a decade under Microgaming. Quickfire’s new home is under the umbrella of Games Global Limited. According to the report, this is as soon as certain regulatory requirements are satisfied, which we presume are both iGaming laws as well as business laws. Presumably, this also means that Games Global Limited will need MGA and UKGC licenses.

The Future For Microgaming: It is business as usual for Microgaming. It will continue to operate with its partner studios, still build up its jackpot networks, WowPot and Mega Moolah, while also focusing on its sports betting software division.
