The second-largest lotto win in South African lottery history was recorded this week leaving the county in awe of the winner.

What’s amazing about this story is that the winner only paid a mere R15 for the ticket which is equivalent to about 1 US dollar. The huge win was won by a citizen that lives in Gauteng, which ironically enough means ‘PLACE OF GOLD’ in the native Sotho-Tswana language. The province itself is one of the smallest in South Africa and is where the country’s capital Johannesburg and the sub-city of Pretoria are situated.

For now, the identity of the winner remains a secret, but reports from the operator show that he is a male, and he purchased the R15 Powerball jackpot ticket using his banking app. He also selected the 6 numbers himself which were the main 5 numbers of 5, 12, 15, 28, 29 with the PowerBall number selected the number 14.
