Another busy month for Wazdan as the iGaming software provider continues to gatecrash the US market. The latest news coming out of the brand’s news wires confirms that Wazdan has been awarded a Michigan iGaming license by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB). This gives Wazdan a presence in 19 regulated markets.

The Wolverine state’s iGaming market is relatively new, opening its doors to online gambling on 22 January 2022. Currently, it is host to online casinos brand names such as BetMGM, PokerStars, William Hill, BetRivers, Golden Nugget, Caesars, FanDuel and 8 others.

Particularly interesting are the FanDuel and Golden Nugget casinos. Wazdan recently penned in an aggregation deal with Scientific Games (SG), soon to be Light & Wonder, to which both online casinos use SG’s iGaming software.

It is likely the new Michigan license will trigger Wazdan game titles to become available to slot players on both websites. In the meantime, SG also has a deal with the FireKeepers Casino, which is yet to attract an online casino brand, but when it does, once again Wazdan will increase its remarkable reach across the USA.

Michigan boasts a population of 10 million, making it the second-largest iGaming in the USA market for potential slot players. For those of you unfamiliar with US iGaming, there are only 6 states in which online casinos are legally able to apply for a licence to operate. Those are Pennsylvania (13 million residents), New Jersey (9 million residents), West Virginia (3 million residents), Connecticut (3.5 million residents), and Delaware (1 million residents). There is also Nevada, the home of Las Vegas. However, only online poker is available here since there is no iGaming licencing framework in place. FYI, that makes 7 states online poker is permitted.

3 US States for Wazdan Slots: Wazdan casino games are also licensed by the West Virginia (Lottery i-Gaming Interim Supplier Licence) and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE). The addition of the MGCB license now put the brand in 3 states. You can see the full list of iGaming licences held by Wazdan here.

Wazdan Eyes Record Online GGR Growth in Michigan iGaming Market

Online casinos opened their virtual doors to Michigan residents in January last year and since then, month after the after a month, it smashed through Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) barriers.

The two casinos likely to first host Wazdan game titles under Scientific Gaming tech deals are FanDuel and Golden Nugget, both of which have recorded US$ 222 million and US$ 62 million GGR since taking memberships sign-ups from state residents. That makes them the third and fifth most popular online casinos in the state, respectively. Currently, the top performers are BetMGM, which has taken in a staggering US$ 507 million, followed by DraftKings, reporting US$ 225 million.

As for the overall Michigan market, it has thus far recorded a total GGR of $ 1.4 billion across all casinos up to February 2022. Meanwhile, 2022’s January and February have reported the overall Michigan market’s largest GGRs taking in $ 121 million and $ 123 million over the past 2 months. In comparison, the last 3 months of 2021 reported $110 million (October), $107 million (November), and $ 121 million (December). October was the first month in the short 14-month history of Michigan iGaming in which a monthly income surpassed the $ 100 million mark across all online casinos.

Chief Operating Officer Wazdan: Michal Imiolek spoke on behalf of the company, expressing the team’s delight at receiving a Michigan iGaming licence. He also remarked on the software provider’s 19 license milestone, which comes as a reward to the Wazdan team’s tireless work ethic that enables the brand to meet strict regulatory standards. He finished by complementing the US market where Wazdan has already been operating, and that the brand anticipates ‘hitting the ground running’ in Michigan.
