It was recently announced that the World’s most prestigious awards ceremony, (IGA) the International Gaming Award is back and will be held at the Savoy Hotel in London on the 29th of July.

Previously Affected by the Pandemic

The renowned awards ceremony is usually held in February of each year but was delayed to July this year because of the fear of the pandemic that has ravaged the world. This year’s event is targeted at celebrating endeavors and innovations through the pandemic period which has been termed the most challenging period in a lifetime.

It is evident that the spread of the pandemic is gradually reducing all thanks to safety measures put in place by government and healthcare officials such as social distancing, use of face masks, washing of hands regularly among others.  However, there seems to be a glimmer of hope with the rollout of vaccines which is aimed at boosting the immune system against the effects of Covid-19, and further reports that a tablet will be formulated in the coming months to also tackle Covid-19.

With the successes recorded so far in the fight against the deadly pandemic, normalcy is gradually returning to every sector including the events industry, and everything is expected to be completely ok by summer.  As a result of this optimism and assurances, many major firms in the gaming sector have begun to throw their weight behind the IGA to sponsor the award ceremony and the list is growing every day.

Statement from the Co-founder of IGA

The International Gaming Awards’ co-founder, Colin Thomson has made comments on the new date saying that it seemed like a very long time since the last edition of the IGA in 2020. He added that the awards ceremony has received positive feedback from the industry over the July date set for this year’s edition.

Thompson further stated that the whole world, including the gaming industry can’t wait for everything to return to normal. He also added that the International Gaming Awards has adapted its land-based categories so that firms that have been hit by the pandemic can also take part in the awards. Although online gaming made huge strides last year and it is still making waves because people are confined to their homes, there has been a tremendous show of interest in that sector which implies that people are anticipating physical meetings, businesses, and getting back to enjoy a normal life.

The International Gaming Awards is set to work in line with the guidelines laid down by the government to make sure that both staff and attendees are safe at the ceremony. International flights will begin in early June in time for the IGA attendees to be able to travel seamlessly in and out of London for the event.

Sponsors and Attendees

International audiences are expected at the awards ceremony which has become the most renowned event of the year in the entire gaming industry. Sponsors like Galaxy Entertainment, Pilot Games, 1xBet, BBIN, Ultraplay, Melco Resorts, Pragmatic Play, Digitain, and Betconstruct have so far been announced with more to come soon.

Categories and nominations are currently open (will close by May 18) and are Free to enter as usual. The International Gaming Awards is an event focused on charity and it supports deserving charities like Breakthrough Breast Cancer, Children with Cancer, and Care International. People can support these amazing charities and their work by booking seats and taking part in the award ceremony and also entering charities-focused fundraising.  We wish all the nominees’ good luck and anticipate them at the London Savoy Hotel on July 29.
