In our second sequel review of the day after John Hunter and the Quest for Bermuda Riches, we’re back with another sequel of a casino favourite. Return to Paris is Betsoft’s follow up to the hugely successful A Night in Paris video slot.

Once again, the romantic city of Paris is the scene. However, we’re not here for romance. We’re here to witness yet another cat and mouse chase involving the thief and policeman. That pesky robber is on the prowl once again, stealing valuable pieces from the local museum.

Only the policeman can stop him, but will he manage to do so before the robber, and you, have made off with some valuable goods?

You can enjoy hugely entertaining bonus features including Stolen Treasures, Wild Explosions, and Free Spins across the 5-reels, 4-rows and 20 paylines that the Night in Paris slot provides. As the chase unfolds in front of you, you can expect medium volatility, an RTP of 96.06%, a top single payout of 1,056x your stake, and a betting range of between 0.20 and 100.00.

Much like the original, the theme here adds to the enjoyment while the graphics are of the same impressive standard. To be fair, Betsoft always develops great looking titles, so that is to be expected. However, it is the gameplay and the bonus features that allow this title to shine. You almost find yourself rooting for the robber as he tries his best to evade the policeman while stealing loot. Of course, how well he performs also benefits you, so you’re nothing more than an accomplice to his crimes!

Betsoft has been in prolific form in the past few months with the release of titles including the football-themed Hat Trick Hero, and the enjoyable Tower of Fortuna. However, this could be the best of the company’s releases so far in 2021.

Highlights: A Return to Paris is the sequel to the Betsoft’s smash hit, a Night in Paris. Offering similarities but plenty of differences, this slot is sure to offer up just as much fun as its predecessor. The cops and robbers action takes place on a 5×4 reel format that offers 20 paylines. it is a medium variance slot that has a 96.06% RTP, min and max bets of 0.20 and 100.00, and a top payout of 1,056x.

Return to Paris Slot Gameplay – A Game of Cops & Robbers!

The gameplay is all about the cat and mouse antics of the thief and policeman. In fact, the longer this goes on, the more benefit it becomes to you. The Stolen Treasures feature allows the thief to continually increase symbol multipliers of the symbols he steals. These can grow into double figures and once the policeman returns these stolen goods, you get paid out according to those multipliers. Plus, trigger the free spins mode and you will get a larger cut of the loot that is returned!

All Features on Return to Paris

  • Stolen Treasures: The thief steals symbols when he lands on the reels. When he does, this increases the multiplier value of that symbol. When the policeman lands, he returns one of the stolen items which rewards you the minimum payout of that symbol multiplied by its current multiplier value.
  • Mona Lisa Wilds: Substitute for all standard paying symbols.
  • Wild Explosions: When both the Thief and the Cop symbols land adjacently, a wild explosion causes surrounding symbols to turn into Mona Lisa wilds.
  • Mona Lisa Free Spins: Once triggered, the free spins will continue until the cop catches the thief. There is no set number. After each spin, the thief continues to steal symbols while the policeman tries to catch him. Theoretically, you could end up enjoying as many as 1,000 free spins.

Before spending your real money testing out this slot, you might want to consider playing the free version on Betsoft’s website! This will allow you to get a feel for the bonus features before risking your hard earned cash.

Stolen Treasures – The Chase is On!

The Stolen Treasures feature is what will keep your attention as you spin the reels on Return to Paris. This is an ongoing feature that builds with every spin and only comes to its culmination when you trigger the free spins mode.

Each time the robber symbol lands on the reels, he will steal one of the paying symbols. This increases a multiplier value for that symbol located below the reels. The robber then disappears which allows another symbol to drop into his place. Those multipliers will continue to increase each time the robber lands on future spins. Occasionally, the policeman symbol will appear on the reels and return some of the stolen symbols. When this happens, you’re awarded a 3-symbol payout of that symbol with the current win multiplier attached. This then resets the multiplier for that symbol to 1x.

Mona Lisa Free Spins – Open-Ended Spins up to 1,000!

Your main target is to trigger the free spins round on Return to Paris. This feature stands out for two reasons, the fact that it goes on for as long as it takes the cop to catch the robber, and the culmination of the Stolen Treasures feature. You need to land the Mona Lisa Scatter symbols on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th reels to trigger the free spins. All of the symbol multipliers earned in the base game carry over, and now you get to witness the final chase between the two main characters.

Starting in opposite corners, both characters will move around the reels. The thief continues to steal symbols and add to the symbol multipliers, while the cop tries to track down his assailant. If the cop manages to get into an adjacent position to the robber, free spins end. This time, he will shine his torch on one of the stolen symbols to return. You’re awarded a 5-symbol win of that symbol with the current multiplier attached. At this point, all remaining symbol multipliers get reset and you’re returned to the base game.

Symbols & Payouts

Return to Paris contains 9 paying symbols. The Wild symbol is where the largest payouts will come while the Museum-related symbols also offer higher payouts. The playing card symbols are where you will find payouts from the lower end of the scale. You need to land a minimum of 3 matching symbols to create a winning combination, while 5 symbols combinations are the maximum you can achieve.
