Gambling addiction is a harmful and problematic issue that needs to be addressed by iGaming companies. Maltese company Play North has teamed up with Neccton to utilise their ‘Responsible Gambling Mentor Software’, which offers formidable player protection software in order to combat the issue. The well-regarded software analyses live players’ gambling habits and, using the AI-based solution, identifies concerning and harmful issues and behaviours in order to catch them early and address them with the player before the situation worsens.

The communications will be only between the player and the operator, with one issue being overspending by a player. For example, if there is an issue in overspending, operators can suggest to the players to set daily deposit limits and bet with smaller stakes. They share the analysis with the player in order for them to understand their own behaviour and compare themselves with other players in the database. In Finland, an iGaming brand, Pikakasino, will also use the mentor player protection software to look after their customers better.

Based in Vienna, Austria, Neccton is a data science company that has teamed up with many other major iGaming companies around the globe and for many years has conducted its own academic studies into the behavioural habits of players who gamble online. The mentor AI-based solution tracks specific metrics, which could show a player is depositing more money than they can actually spend. What’s great about this software is that it is not tied to just a specific game but across all gambling such as sports betting, live casinos, video slots, and more!

Helpful notifications: The software tool can notify players chasing losses from a session of their behaviour when this occurs, so in future perhaps they will take a break from the game and return at a later date!

Improve gambling behaviour and make better decisions

The primary focus is to help customers improve their gambling behaviour when using online casinos. Dr. Michael Auer, the Director at Neccton, expressed that the mentor player protection software will be a key component in helping operators understand all live players’ behaviours to some “level of cognitive dissonance”. Players have the ability also to study their own habits and in doing so ‘make better decisions’. Play North, launched in 2018, expanded its casino brand and operates under a gaming licence from Malta. They have produced some eye-catching and innovative casino experiences for all keen players and developed astute brands such as Pikakasino and Rocket Casino.

The goals for Play North remain to design and improve player experience in the online gambling sphere and the company has lived by the values of Trust, Responsibility and Fun!

Forging longer-lasting relationship with customers

By taking care of players in this way, operators are forging a longer-lasting relationship which is proven to be more strategic when retaining them in the long run. The customers’ feel their best interests are at the forefront and also this helps improve the overall image of online casinos and helps attract new players. Director of Play North, Patrick Azzopardi emphasised the need to carry the responsibility in protecting the customer and that players are more attracted by their trusted brand and avoid bad press in regard to problem gambling or failing to sport problem gamblers as we saw in a recent news report! As North Play looks to continue this battle against gambling addiction with their recent announcement to partner with Neccton, Patrick Azzopardi added they consider Neccton an industry leader in recognising player gambling issues.

He continued to praise Neccton by claiming they are a fantastic addition to the tools which are needed to aid customers and guide them correctly when they have issues in controlling their entertainment overall!
