International Gaming Technology (IGT), a UK company that is floated on the NYSE, has finalised its push to acquire the iSoftBet software provider. The deal is said to be worth €160 million (C$ 213 million / US$ 164 million).

From our point of view here at Casino Plus Bonus, this is a monumental deal for IGT as iSoftBet is one of the top 20 if not top 10 video slot developers in the iGaming arena.

The possibility of a deal arose in April this year. For IGT, the aim was clear. To extend its current PlayDigital content library by adding iSoftBet titles to the portfolio. IGT picks up the entire iSoftBet, games portfolio with UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), AAMS (Italy), Belgian Commission Des Jeux De Hasard (BCDH), Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC Greece), and more. In reverse, iSoftBet will almost certainly see its collection of slots head stateside into the various iGaming markets currently operating IGT software.

On top of this, IGT is purchasing a brand that is already successful with over 350 people working for the slot developer. Moreover, iSoftBet slots are already available at the casinos of 100s iGaming operators. For iSoftBet, its slot will now have access to the more than 250 operators IGT’s platform connects with.

iSoftBet’s current video slot collection consists of over 150 top game titles. The collection includes a range of Megaways, Cluster Pays, Hold & Win non-progressive jackpot titles, ways-to-win, and pay line slots. On top of this, the brand also has a modest assortment of virtual RNG table games. This includes Blackjack, Roulette, Punto Banco, Baccarat, Red Dog, and video poker titles.

Most notably, IGT gains a portfolio of Megaways slot titles. Top titles now under the IGT wing include Majestic Megaways and Majestic Gold Megaways, Moriarty Megaways, Scrooge Megaways, Queen of Wonderland Megaways, Musketeer Megaways, Merlins Revenge Megaways, and more.

IGT’s Growing Slot Portfolio: With these titles added to IGT’s collection of slots and table games, the combined game portfolio is well over the 350+ mark. Quite possibly, this brings the total collection over 400+.

Great News for Dual Land-Based & Online Slot Players?

For land-based casino fans who also play online, news of the deal can only be good news. There is every chance that IGT will start to manoeuvre iSoftBet online slots into the land-based casino market. There is no reason why this would not happen as Playtech has made similar moves since acquiring Quickspin way back in 2014. Since that acquisition, top 10 Quickspin slots like Sakura Fortune and Big Bad Wolf can be found in land-based casinos around the UK.

Top titles that would certainly become smash hits on the brick-and-mortar scene would be the likes of Basic Instinct. It is also a progressive jackpot title which always goes down well on live slots. Other titles such as Hot Spins Hot Links, Hot Spin Deluxe, Super Diamond Wild, Alice Adventure, Gold Digger Mines, and Jumbo Stampede are just kind of slot titles land-based slot players would flock to.

What’s more, IGT supplies the Global Gaming Awards 2022 ‘Land-Based Casino of the Year’, PokerStars Live poker tables partner as well as Evolution Dual Play partner – The Hippodrome Casino (London) – with land-based slots. I for one, will be in London soon and will be scoping out which video slots are on offer in the Hippodrome as well as other London casinos. Watch this space!

IGT & Barcrest: IGT already owns the Barcrest brand which is also a land-based and online video slot game development company. You can check out more about land-based arcade slots as well as other brands that operate in both the offline and online space via our special ‘Arcade Slots Online Guide’.
