It has been announced that Genius Sports has now agreed to take over the renowned provider of free-to-play games, FanHub Media Holdings. Subject to normal closing conditions, the transaction is expected to end by the second quarter of the year, although the terms were not revealed.  This new take-over is the first of its kind for Genius Sports since the company began formal trading on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) last month. The company went public after associating with dMY Technology Group Inc. II in a SPAC deal.

FanHub was established in 2012 and has since provided a wide collection of technology solutions mainly built around social activation, betting, and games. Genius Sports will take over FanHub’s collection of F2P games such as polling games, trivia, bracket challenges, and fantasy sports as part of the transaction.

Mark Locke Comments on The Acquisition

While speaking on the acquisition, CEO of Genius Sports, Mark Locke stated that the take-over of FanHub will provide his company’s media, betting, and sports partner with brand new thrilling content platforms that complement its established data, marketing, and video solution entirely.

Locke further stated that his company expects the transaction to broaden its global reach and audience while speeding up the union of media, betting and sports to engage the contemporary fan.  He ended by noting that the new collection of F2P games will help his company to aim at delivering tailored marketing campaigns, as well as messaging, video highlights, live odds, and many more.

FanHub CEO Also Speaks

Andrew Cronyn, founder, and CEO of FanHub said that his firm considers Genius Sports a great complementary partner. He also expressed optimism in the acquisition when he stated that he hopes that both companies will be able to provide a richer fan experience, value to their fans and partner, and also generate more engagement.
